A couple of Dropping domains worth noting.
A truly great domain name is on the drop list for tomorrow, Tv.Org
The domain was owned by TSL of Panama which seemed to have acquired the domain in 2009.
The original registrant of the domain seems to be the late Igal Lichtman who owned the domain back in 2004 then it went under privacy until 2007 where is showed NetrinoUK Limited of London as the Registrant.
The domain went back under privacy until 2009 when the domain transferred to Brooke Viner of Queensland Australia and shortly there after the registrant changed to TSL of Panama
From 2007 the domain showed a page advertising “Unlimited TV Show Downloads ” which of course in today’s world would be a huge copyright liability issue.
The domain name BSF.com dropped and is a closed SnapNames.com auction.
With a little over 2 days to go bidding on BSF.com is at $14,000.
So what do you think Tv.Org will fetch at the drop auction.
You can make your picks here and we are opening the poll on the right.

Isn’t the .org registry taking back deleting 2C .org’s?
Page Howe says
yup, as well as i thought at one time anything that was CcTld (.TV) wasnt allowed in the Generic Tld’s…. but maybe they massaged that out in the new agreements…….. only the registry knows at this point…………………
derkomissar says
yep taking back all CC that are going to drop
Brad Mugford says
Once TV.org deletes it will not be available to register.
From PIR.org –
“Certain domain names are to be reserved per ICANN’s directive. The domain names listed there, including all one-character and two-character domains, are reserved “from initial (i.e., other than renewal) registration within the TLD.” In other words, should any of those previously registered domain names be allowed to expire, or if they are deleted, they will be placed on reserved status and will NOT be made available to the public for registration again.”

That makes sense I know that Verisign is doing that with certain .tv domain names
I would expect a lot of the new gTLD registries to also do the same

Looks like Tv.org was renewed, whois record shows a expiration date of 19-June-2014.

“Looks like Tv.org was renewed, whois record shows a expiration date of 19-June-2014.”
Outside an extraordinary circumstance, like a court order, the pendingdelete status is not reversible. A domain can not be updated or renewed while in this status.
The domain is still pending delete, but the whois dates are confusing.
I hope there is not more to this like a renewal was paid for and not applied by the registrar.

Email has been sent to the PIR folks will let you know the scoop when they send an answer
derkomissar says
What you see at whois is the autorenewperiod of registrar, name is in pending delete status and will be back to registry.
Same thing does verisign for single character .tv (an example was g.tv) but allows CC domains to drop and get regged
LM says
I think it will get witheld by the registry at drop – I would LOVE this name however. Cheers MHB for keeping an eye, looking forward to seein what PIR responds, cool scoop 😀

2 character .org that drop are, for some years now, to be reserved by the registry.
then they will resell it as premium domains like they did in some months ago with some premium auctions at namejet.
you are all messing up the information from whois system. are you using online tools?? your should take the whois protocol from port 43 while you can, before ICANN and other regulatory entities succumb to the registrars interest in moving on to the web base version as the only option.
the expiration dates from the registry are always set for the next year. this has been one of the bogus rules from the start of the whois system. And with registries that provide all the whois information ate the top level, like PIR does, this is even more confusing since you cannot compare it to the registrar expiration date.
now, the more interesting thing is that TV.ORG was registered at Moniker. How come did they not sent it to their expiration house SnapNames? and given that BSF.COM was registered with Key-Systems/DomainsDiscoun24, from the new owners of Moniker and SnapNames, why wasn’t it also sent to SnapNames?
something similar keeps happening with NetworkSolutions. For instance, JNI.COM is in a private auction with only 16 bidders because the domain went silently and without any alert to auction at NameJet, and this after the domain had supposedly been renewed by the owner until 2015.
after so many years it is hard to understand how such valuable assets are so poorly managed 😐
Michael Berkens says
This one is going to be reserved by the registry because the two letters .Tv is also a ccTLD

Given that “television” is an antiquated technology, if anyone pays big for this domain (TV.org), it will be their loss. “Watching” today is hardly ever done on “television sets”. Grampas and Grandmas may continue to watch but in obliviously decreasing numbers. The quality of shows, the choice of shows, the quality of writing, the quality of acting, quality of subject matter, the burden of advertiser control, greediness of the studios, all spell disaster for “TV”. No real future.
As commercial interruptions and insulting advertising increases, the death of TV will spiral out of control. Could be “gone” in days after epiphany. No future; the best is long past.
I’d be hard pressed to pay 9.99 USD for tv.org, at least while conscious. ©2015
