Name.com just sent out an email letting all their customers know that they have entered the new gTLD watch game using the domain name TheNewDots.com
“In the next few months, a whole bunch of new domain extensions, or new TLDs, will be released. Along with existing TLDs like .COM and .NET, you’ll have new TLDs like .NINJA, .APP, .SHOP, and hundreds more.
We like to call ’em The New Dots.
OK, we can see your eyes glazing over already.
Here’s what’s important: Thanks to The New Dots, there will be more domain name options available than ever before. You can see a full list of potential new TLDs here.
Intrigued?
We want to make sure you get all the information you’ll need to be ready for the launch of the new TLDs, so we’ve created the New TLD Watcher. It’s simple: You choose the new TLDs you want information about, and we’ll email you the info as it becomes available.
And when all those shiny New Dots are available for registration this fall, you’ll know exactly what you need to do to get in on the action.”
Name.com was acquired by Demand Media, Inc, which also owns the worlds second largest registrar Enom and has 26 new gTLD applications of their own.
I don’t think its an accident that the new gTLD .Ninja is listed first in the email.

still resolves to a name.com subpage, weird.
Tom Gilles says
Premature launch of thenewdots.com was unnecessary.
New Dots are for everyone.
