Fox Sports is launching a new sports network called Fox Sports 1 next month and today Fox filed a UDRP seeking control over 22 domain names, including FoxSports1.com and FoxSports1.Tv as well as FoxSportsone.com and FoxSportsone.tv.
The UDRP was filed with the National Arbitration Forum and was assigned case number 1509782.
Fox has huge plans for Fox Sports 1 so the move is not unexpected as it is believed to be the first real competition to ESPN.
In case Fox Sports 1 grows into numerious channels, they are covering themseleves by going after the domain names including Fox Sports 2 and Fox Sports 3 as well.
All the domain names were registered on the same day January 6, 2013 by a James Carter personally or under “JCI” both of which have the same address in San Diego.
