Two more new gTLD application were withdrawn today as reflected on the ICANN site.
Allstate Insurance withdrew .carinsurance and .Autoinsurance
Both were to be operated as closed generic gTLD’s “opened only to restricted to AFCIC and its qualified subsidiaries, affiliates, business partners or others having the Required Agreement. The registry will be closed to registrants who do not have a formal, written agreement from AFCIC or an affiliate of AFCIC, specifically allowing the registration of a second-level domain names”
The withdrawn application have not been through ICANN Initial Evaluation as they had prioritization numbers of 1,227 and 1,327 so they will get a 70% refund of their $185,000 application fee.
Allstate still have two new gTLD’s applications pending .Allstate and .Goodhands
Somehow although Allstate applied for .carinsurance and .autoinsurance they didn’t apply for .insurance.
Allstate’s withdrawal of .autoinsurance and .carinsurance represent the second and third applications withdrawn after a community objection filing by the American Insurance Association.
With these two withdrawn applications there now are 95 new gTLD applications that have been withdrawn.
