According several sources, Yahoo would like to get out of its deal with Microsoft and let Google Monetize their search results.
Yahoo entered into a 10 year search deal in 2010 and uses Bing search engine to power search results on Yahoo sites.
Microsoft just extended the revenue guarantee associated with the partnership, the second such extension since the 10-year pact took effect in 2010.
Under the deal, Microsoft gets 12% of the revenue Yahoo generates from search ads that appear next to search results on its websites.
Microsoft guarantees a certain level of revenue
In 2015, the midway point of the 10-year agreement, either party can potentially opt out of the Agreement.
The question for domainers is what happens to parking revenue if Yahoo hands off all of its traffic to Google leaving Google as the only upstream PPC provider?
However parking has declined, there are substantial money being generated by parking which continues to fund domain acquisitions and pays for registration and renewal fees.
One can assume without any competition Google will squeeze the domain channel even harder sucking out additional profit.
We may find out in a couple of years.

Hello MHB,
You may remember we predicted yahoo going back to Google long ago,(Dead Balls On) how bout that?
Google will continue to squeeze parkers wallets. This will only cause the .COM business explosion the SMART Money is putting into place as we speak.
As usual Rick Schwartz and others are well positioned in front of this Massive .COM Revenue Wave.

I think you overestimate influence of Yahoo traffic. While majority of advertisers ignores Bing advertisement, no advertiser can ignore Google channel. So there is no real competition from Bing even now already.
What is actually Googles competition in domain parking is affiliate etc. If Google squeezes too much, people will go to affiliate or other channels. Its happening already for couple of years and since Google started squeezing, people started selling domains en masse for acceptable prices.
Its still better to sell domain now for 20-30 years revenue than not knowing what might happen in 5 years. Certainly not earnings increase…

Changes with Google have resulted in affliate site revenue being destroyed. Why should I need content on a e-commerce site? Reviews are there and I feel no need to put “original” content. The “rules” changed midstream and has caused a tremendous loss of earnings not only on the google adsense that was now removed from 200 plus sites but in less traffic. I own several good .com’s but believe-that regardless of extension—if you have exact word keywords–sweater, action figures, school supplies, scarves, floor mat, sports collectibles, american flag, aviators and so on for another 250 domains–that should prevail. I was considering yahoo on my sites but looks like now..I better wait and hold on. E-commerce is not what people think and honestly when I hear people talk about getting into domains and development–I tell them think twice. This has been the biggest waste of time and money in my life. Jeff- I do have my paperbackbooks.com with Joint Ventures…if that domain can not be leased–nothing can.

Sure antitrust is a big issue here that would keep Google and Yahoo from teaming up – but this is not as much about 2 arguing bed partners (Yahoo and Microsoft) – but how much is to be paid for sex vs. what was already agreed to for sex 🙂

“3 choices” is better than 2 , think about it!
Long ago Google gave Yahoo some “Domain parking” advice/consulting…
Anyhow not sure what is the big deal with “Domain Parking” nearly catatonic and less and less direct navigation traffic partially due to less’type ins” and more filers,
in addition “parking” is a “Bad idea/choice” for domain, furthermore it’s a “negative metric” in the eyes of savvy developers (buyers)
I foresee the day Google will Kill it’s Domain parking business.

The last great Online Business Expansion of the late 90s,early 2000s, turned into a disasterous .COM business Boom, Bust, Remember ?
This Online Business Bust was mostly orchestrated by the Technology Webmasters total ignorance of Online Marketing Sales and Protocol.
You would think Online businesses have learned their lessons?
This is not the case of live and learn, because the greatest number of Online businesses still rely on a Webmaster and SEO Manipulated Search engine Marketing for their online Marketing strategy.
The worst Marketing Advice is usually supplied by some Ad company guy with a power point pony show extolling the questionable benefits of naming your company a nonsensical or contrived name. This fundamentally flawed process always involves, you guessed it SEO Manipulated Search Engine Marketing. This commonly followed Online Marketing Strategy accounts for thousands of businesses being lost in the shuffle and accounts for a large number of Online failures.
We see things very differently. 80% of your Marketing budget needs to be allocated to a well (Internally Branded) .COM Profit Center. The rest of the 20% should be held in reserve till absolutely needed. There is no rush to pay the Ad men unless needed. Remember 100s if not 1000s will be in a search engines line up.
What many business owners are not told by their SEO manipulator friends, is this key boondoggle of SEO Manipulated Marketing , and it is this !
Your businesses most dreaded competitors are often on the same Search Engine page as your companies are and are just one Click away from you as a choice.
Now come on now, do you think this is Smart Marketing?
It may be smart for SEO manipulators ! But a very stupid choice for the business owner, We think.
This phenomonon can be TOTALLY, avoided by using Pure Play Direct Navigation .COM Generics,ONLY.
Seriously, the Smart Marketers are not swallowing the SEO Manipulated Search Engine Kool-Aid here.
The Candid truth of this matter is the End-Users will find that Branding Internally, not Externally, through the use of a (Pure Play .COM site), will enjoy a residual recall response from Consumers at the Browser.

because the device of choice to access the internet is becoming mobile phone . . . This Nokia is pretty spiffy, giving Windows and by association, Bing, more clout. Maybe mobile will lead the way for an increase in Bing usage!
If I want to research technological advances re companies which compete with Google, better results are to be found on Bing. It’s like, Google is suppressing its competitors’ mentions. If I want to research anything Microsoft, I use Bing.
