Investor’s Business Daily Just Covered Domainer Mike Mann the founder of DomainMarket.com
“Among the best-known companies in domain names are Demand Media (DMD) and GoDaddy.com.”
“Among the largest holders of domain names is Mike Mann, the founder of DomainMarket.com. ”
“”He also is CEO of SEO.org and several other website companies, and he’s involved in several charities, including his own Grassroots.org.”
Here is just a few quotes from the story:
“”IBD: How’s the Internet domain name business going?
Mann: It’s a complex industry, with a lot of characters.
A lot of people shift money in and out of many different things. The state of the business today is as it’s always been and will remain — an extraordinary and thinly traded market. That means there are wild swings in (domain name) pricing, and that holders of these assets could be stuck with any collection of assets for an indeterminate amount of time.
If you have a great name you can sell it, but you have to take whatever price is being offered.
If you wait longer, the price for it could go up (or down) 10 or 100 times, just waiting for the right buyer or the psychologically of the market to shift or news stories that might make one name suddenly popular.
There are very high margins for the people who know what they are doing, but the majority of these assets (domain names held for purposes of sale) have absolutely no value.”
IBD: Is this market still dominated but just a handful of people?
Mann: It’s still the same guys, but there are hundreds of people always nipping at our toes.

Hello MHB,
I.B.D. is the institutional Smart money crowd. I bought their 1st issue at inception and have used them not as a GOP advocate, that they definitely are. I use them as an early adopter system indicator. Having I.B.D. following our Industry portends great coverage from here on out. JointVentures.com will be contained in their sites sooner or later. Count On It !
Gratefully, Jeff schneider (Contact Group) (Metal Tiger)

Mann is CEO of “SEO.org?” It is SEO.com. Interesting that slipped by! Is anyone going to comment on a major publication making a gaffe in favor of dot org, instead of the holy grail of dot com?
