At the Godaddy new gTLD Registry Days event today it announced it would be withdrawing its applications for .home and .casa.
We want to concentrate and be just a registrar for all new gTLD’s so we are withdrawing our applications for the new gTLD’s for .Home & .Casa.
Another big move by Godaddy.com but one which makes a lot of sense for the company which doesn’t want to potentially go into an auction with companies it hopes to do business with as a registrar for other strings.
After the applications are withdrawn there will be 10 Applications for .Home and 2 for .Casa.

Smart move. Now they can focus on their core model of hosting and web services.
They feel the storm brewing.
Easy path to delegation strings will be hitting the root in May imho.

This is a very truthful statement I am going to use as an example of why so many .COM corporations are getting out of the Monopoly TLD Folly. The Rising P. R. ShitStorm of .COM/PLEX holders against competitors participating in this Power Grab is just starting.
Your statement above with just a few word changes here and there would explain what I have just said beautifully. Thanks MHB job well done!

Can we say yet that new tld apps are dropping like flys? Personally I thought there were too many apps anyway for something as expensive and risky as it is. There will still be plenty applicants but a more realistic number. They should thank their lucky stars that they were able to get out of it and get some money back. They are still getting refunds right?

Typical. Some companies make decision, then work out the numbers and see no profit in there.
And yet, some new TLDs will be very profitable.

It will be very profitable to .COM Profit Center Participants, and painfully excruciating for End-users who swallow a slick Ad companies Dog and Pony Show seriously.
All End-Users there is no Higher and Better use of your time to get several opinions from New World Smart Marketing Strategists. Good place to start for this valuable Education is Ricks Blog.

Hello MHB,
The same people that facilitated the 2000 .com Crash , The Techies, who know nothing of Marketing strategies, will be the biggest participants in the .Whatever experiment. Luckily this time around the steering helm of this next greatest Capital formation expansion, will be lead by .COM Virtual Business Foundations, that are being rapidly deployed as we speak.
In other words NO crash this time around, but lots of walking wounded that choose the .Whatevers. My advice is get educated first then make the choice that World Class Marketers are making in the selection of a .COM Virtual Business Foundation Profit Center.
