A busy sunday morning in the UDRP world with complainants filed by Twitter.org by Twitter.com Rooms to Go over the domain name RoomtoGo.com and a decision handed down this time in favor of General Motors over another “My” domain.
Twitter filed its UDRP against the domain name Twitter.org which was registered back in 2005 and according to Screenshot was a parking page as far back as 2006.
The page now goes to a “you’re a winner take a short survey page” which maybe more offensive to trademark holders than a typical landing page
Looks like twitter.org is going to be a loser.
Another play off of a famous TM was filed overnight this one by Rooms To Go over the domain roomtogo.com
Roomtogo.com was registered in 2011 and goes to a traditional landing page over at InternetTraffic.com
According to Alexa and Compete.com RoomToGo.com gets some 5,000+ monthly visitors.
In a decision announced but not yet published General Motors which lost its bid to obtain the domain name MyCadillac.com earlier this week, just won a UDRP on the 4 letter domain name MyGM.com
MyGm.com has an original registration date of 1999.
This one might be more interesting once the opinion comes out since the domain was registered so long ago and looking at Screenshots.com, the last one taken in 2008 the domain was parked with General Motors being the first suggested link:
While prior to 2008 the page much less “infringing” which could explain in part why it took GM so long to go after it:
We will let you know what the opinion says once it is published.
