The Nashville Business Journal, had a feature story on how another catgeorgy killer domain has become a mulitmillion dollar business.
In this case the domain is Medicare.com and the owner, Bill Kimberlin “has led his company to nearly 900 percent growth over the past three years. “We’re just getting started,” he is quoted as saying.
“”The online Medicare information group had 2011 revenue of $2.3 million, representing explosive 892 percent three-year growth that landed Medicare.com as the 416th fastest-growing company in the country, according to Inc. ”
“For Kimberlin, who has owned the Medicare.com domain name since 2000, the success has largely been about figuring out just what to do with his online gem.”
The rest of the story is by subscription only but its another case of a category defining name directly leading to a business making seven figures a year in revenue.
