Smartcompany.com.au, tells the story tonight about an Australian domain name investor which sold the domain sold Hobart.com.au for $67,000 after purchasing the website for just $875 back in 2007.
However, the domain seller suggests it may actually be a bargain price, given the problems of developing geographic domains.
“Publishing Australia owner David Lye, who also runs the registrar NetFleet, told SmartCompany this morning the domain is one of several the company picked up back in 2007.
“You had to pay a premium to register one, and it was a bit of luck in actually grabbing them. We got Hobart, Parramatta, Batemans Bay, and a few others.”
Website hosting company Barkhost, purchased the domain.
Always nice to see a domain investor success story hitting the mainstream press.

That is just plain good business – something some us politicians seem to convey as greed – not understanding that is what makes the pie bigger – so they can collect more taxes to fund all their government programs.
