Pro bowl running back Adrian Peterson has lost his UDRP claim on the domain name AdrianPeterson.com
The opinion hasn’t been published yet, but the decision is in.
The domain currently does not resolve, but according to Screenshots.com the domain was a “fan site” as recently as 2009 at which time the site had pictures of Mr Peterson as well as stats and other information on the running back.
The site did have a disclaimer on the bottom saying that the site was not affiliated with Adrian Peterson, the Minnesota Vikings or the NFL.
The domain name was 1st registered in 2001 and owned by the current domain holder since 2008 to someone in Gainsville, Florida, the Home of the Gators although Mr. Peterson went to and played for the University of Oklahoma.
adrian-peterson.com is also a fan site not owned by the player.
The decision should be out on Monday and will publish it up then or as soon as we can get it.
RiteDomains says
I notice the domain name does not resolve to a website.
There should in my opinion be a policy in place as to legitimate use of these domains Eg: fan-site as mentioned, Or a person with same name. There are too many political and celebrity names being abused for this to not become a problem .
Small answer is…. If you are going to be the caretaker of these type domains keep them relevant to the spirit of the Domain.
