I don’t blame them – those have obviously been reg’d for phishing rather than traffic.

Those domains are confusingly similar to the bank names, so udrp seems to be valid

It is the Trademark owners at the losing end. The registrant / infringer goes free, losing only the domain name. I hope ICANN could sponsor / set up a UDRP Centre, funded by ICANN. Not every company can afford the cost of filing a UDRP.
