Afternic.com just published its weekly report of domain name sales totalling $994,964 for the week ending July 22nd, 2012. The publicly reportable sales were led by ShenYun.com for $16,475, followed by SelfTanning.com for $12,000.
ShenYun.com is now directing to the website for Shen Yun Performing Arts – an entertainment and performing arts company based in New York. They previously used the url shenyunperformingarts.org.

Wow! Are these truly Afternic “listings” (since there’s no formal auction on these domains that I know of, nor any PRweb new releases sent out to find the buyers), or are they domains sold straight from Afternic’s parent company “pet,” BuyDomains.com? That “pet” has about 1 MILLION domains that Afternic’s parent company, Name Media, owns outright.
So the real question is: Are these sales based on simply listing your domain on Afternic (trust me, they aren’t out there actively trying to “find” buyers for your domains”), or were these the domains listed here sold through their flagship domain-selling powerhouse, BUYDOMAINS.COM, which of course, is owned by Name Media, Inc.? They’ve got some nice premium domains.
