In an interview that Rod Beckstrom just did with the Nationaljournal.com, Beckstrom said that the TAS system will “To prevent further problems, will now track users every keystroke.”
Duh
Wouldn’t that have been a good thing to build into a system through which hundreds of millions of dollars will flow through?
Beckstrom in the delay in getting the TAS system back up and running said:
“What is driving us here is quality, not speed”
“Software glitches are unfortunately inherent to almost any software system, and it’s just unfortunate that this glitch came up at this time,”
“We think the thorough method in which we deal with the issue, our standard of care, and our openness in communicating should support the role of this institution in carrying out its duties further in the future.”

This makes applications a little easier. When ICANN says “Your answer is not technically sufficient” in a gTLD application you can just say “And ICANN could not keep TAS up – so why did ICANN move forward when it was not ready to do so?”

A system that needs to track such things is like a Dutch dam that requires fingers to plug holes.

“track every keystroke”
with javascript? or maybe they’ve switched to using a serial line?
these guys are real technical wizards.
millions of websites can handle uploaded data, from millions of users… users who pay nothing. but icann is having problems. with under 1500 users, most of whom are paying $185k+.
why not just accept applications in paper form? after all this is about making money at the expense of the gullible, not impressing anyone with being current with technology.
this is truly an entertaining spectacle to watch.

After a review of staff proficiency and technical capability, please be advised ICANN will be receiving future applications by Morse code, pony express is acceptable as well.
