Domain Holdings announced today that it launched its proprietary Monetization Decision Engine (MDE) which according to a Press Release increases revenues by up to 70%.
“The MDE which was in Beta over the last three months.”
The MDE routes traffic for optimal revenue yield for our platform users through a series of real-time decisions. The main components are three-fold, with the results offering users some of the most competitive payouts in the industry:
“Predictive Analytics: Using a predictive analytics model based on historical performance of similar domains, we are able to route domains to the highest performing advertisers or platforms.”
“Optimization: we continuously measure the performance of domain groups against our 31 monetization partners to route traffic in a way that optimizes yield.
“Volume: With our volume on the platform, we create a competitive marketplace where our 31 monetization partners are competing for domain traffic.”
“The idea surfaced after we looked at our vertical frameworks, and noticed that they were only converting on about 15% of all traffic.
“The MDE was designed to capitalize on the other 85%.”
Here is the press release:
“”For the last three months, DomainPower has been building out its core MDE technology in private Beta.””
“”The MDE routes domain traffic amongst its 31 monetization partners to maximize revenue opportunities for platform users.””
“When we spoke with our users in late 2011, it became abundantly clear that the main thing they were concerned with was maximum revenue on their domains,” DomainPower General Manager Paolo DiVincenzo said. “We’ve integrated some of the biggest parking platforms and advertising networks in the space, which combined with the MDE, are producing some of the highest payouts in the industry.”
“”In a recent customer case study, Domain Holdings analysts saw a 70 percent increase from switching a domain from a single feed parked page to the MDE.””
“”The MDE differs from traditional rotational testing in that it uses a predictive analytics, optimizing earnings for a domain the minute it is uploaded to the platform.”””
“The MDE uses historical data from similar domain names to send its traffic where we predict – and have proven through testing – it will monetize the best,” DiVincenzo said. “This is important for domains with little traffic, as it takes time – months, years to get a large enough traffic sample to optimize revenue.”
“”In July of 2011, Domain Holdings completed a round of Series A funding which was used in large part to facilitate the growth and development of the DomainPower. Since September, the platform has averaged over 150-percent month over month growth.””

They were very vague on details of this 70% increase, smoke screen… I don’t buy it.

Notice: switching “A” domain in the above statement.
Misleading on purpose imo?

Rk
wow pretty picky
I’m sure they didn’t mean they did 70% better on one domain.
Ron says
They would not name specifics in their interview, that would be sort of a red flag, percentages, can be twisted many which ways as we all know. A few domains could over perform, while the majority stay the same in a portfolio, of was it 9000 domains?
Jason Stewart says
I have parked with DH the last 6 months and they have been the best kept secret in this industry. Payouts are above average IMO, the pages look GREAT which is important to me if I am looking to sell to an end-user. The sales engine is hands-down the best out there, and it is easy for customers to purchase a domain directly through DH and the process is fairly smooth.
Hands down, these guys are innovating and bringing domain monetization to a whole new level.
I love what the have done with the new marketplace as well, sheer brilliance! 10/10 for now.
Michael H. Berkens says
Just for full disclosure 90% of our domains are parked with DomainHoldings.com as well
rk says
@ Jason,
Please provide some landing page examples if possible.

@ MHB
Wasn’t trying to be picky. I guess I don’t know DH system that well so I will wait and see.
Ron says
Here is an example, there is nothing stunning or out of this world from what I can see, looks like any other parking page?
KeywordsApp.com

Hi RK,
Here is a simple PPC page. I like the clean, bright look to it. Nothing special and probably not the best monetization method, ie. its not on the MDE, but it serves its purpose.
sportslimos.com
For the store’s, check something out like:
CollegeMoney.Ca
There is a wide variety of parking solutions available with PPC and Shopping Comparison being 2 of many.

Thanks Jason…….looks good.

Why did you choose domainholdings over InternetTraffic?
Tony says
I’d like to know what steven asked too. Why DH over IT/DNS, MHB?
Stylistically, DH parked pages look similar to IT/DNS with the sales contact bar right at the top.
On SedoPro, I was getting a sales inquiry every day or so. On InternetTraffic, I get inquiries every few hours. On top of that increase, I have names and contact info of every prospective buyer instead anonymous sedo bidders.
Love, love, love InternetTraffic.

Interesting. I thought you were all inn with frank and crew
I think having a perspective by you and your 90 percent of domains would be more helpful then reading some PR by them.
Can you share with us average increases ? What your seeing vs parking with frank or other avenues?
BrianWick says
Whatever the model, PPC or otherwise intutive, generic, common use and generic .com’s are the only ones on the shelf that generates organic typein traffic and collectively represent a “compliment” to advertising agrigators like Google, rather than being percieved as “competitors”.
Mike says
I’m still hesitant to try it but it does sound intriguing. Still, glad to see any new solutions or angles to this market.
Like Tony said…..love, love, love InternetTraffic. I also feel a bit loyal to them already since they/Frank disintermediated the domain industry and did us all a great service.
Frank said he has something coming from Google in the coming three months or so, so I might wait to see what that is and see what others have to say about this before second-guessing InternetTraffic. I find it slightly hard to believe I’d get a big lift trying spreading my traffic among 31 providers over beyond InternetTraffic.com, but who knows.
Maximise Revenue says
Now one of the most popular way of marketing a business is through using SEO optimization, well I don’y think it will be replace by a word monetization.

Mike, thanks for publishing the news on our MDE.
To everyone in the thread, I manage the DomainPower platform, and I’d like to address the questions about the news.
The 70% lift we saw from moving domains to our MDE was on a group of 9,000+ domains. In our first beta test, we moved the domains from a single PPC parking page to the MDE, measured 30 days of revenue against 30 days trailing revenue, and the difference was over 70%. I sent the actual data to Michael Cyger of DomainSherpa and we discuss the data in a recent interview. This was our first test, where we proved the concept of our MDE, so it’s the one we reference in our release. Of course, results on any given portfolio will depend on where it was parked previously, how aggressively it was optimized, and a variety of other factors.
We are in the process of documenting the case study and we’ll post it on our website once complete. In the meantime, feel free to watch the interview on DomainSherpa or contact us directly for details.

Before this thread fades into obscurity, I take it that with the lack of responses, no one has done a side by side performance comparison between InternetTraffic and DomainPower?
Michael H. Berkens says
Tony
Not all domains perform the same way.
I suggest you try all reasonable options for 2-4 weeks each then do a stare and compare and then split up your domain traffic accordingly.
There is no one solution for every domain and every portfolio

Hello all,
Paolo DiVincenzo, GM for DomainPower, mentioned above that we would be posting the case study referenced in our official release of the MDE. We just posted it, and we welcome your thoughts on it.
