According to a press release today Sedo.com, announced it was expanding its SedoMLS service by adding Go Daddy, the world’s largest domain name registrar
“Go Daddy wants to help small businesses grow larger, and finding the right domain name is the place to start,” said Paul Nicks, Go Daddy’s Director of Product Development for the Aftermarket. “Giving customers access to many premium domain names, including Sedo’s Buy Now domain names, Go Daddy can ensure our customers get the best domain name for their website or business.”
“Through this partnership, Go Daddy can now offer its customers the option to purchase domain names that are already “taken” as easily as they would register a domain for the first time. The domain market leader, Sedo currently has 15 million domains for sale in its marketplace. SedoMLS allows any domains listed at a “Buy Now” price to be displayed within Go Daddy’s search results, reaching the largest potential audience of domain buyers.
“As one of the most popular places worldwide for small business owners, entrepreneurs, or individuals looking for the right domain name, we are thrilled to be partnering with Go Daddy,” said Sedo’s CEO, Tim Schumacher. “Through our SedoMLS partnership, we can offer millions of domain buyers the widest choice of domain names, which will help them make the right decision for their business, and purchase the names they need to find success online.”
Afternic.com announced late last year that it was adding Godaddy to its similar DLS offering

I am just wondering that, if a domain is listed for sale at Sedo and Afternic, GoDaddy search result(s) showing which one first, showing both or what?
Because Afternic is GoDaddy partner as well.
And GoDaddy started showing Afternic domains last month.

I have a call With Tim at Sedo on Tuesday at 4pm
I will ask him your question and let you know
SL says
@MHB: This may already be answered somewhere but another question is timing. How quickly are prices transmitted between Sedo and GD (and other MLS participants)? Is it real-time or hourly/daily batches?
And is the time delay the same for price changes as when setting the price initially?
Michael H. Berkens says
Will ask Tim that as well, keep the questions coming
Back in the real world says
Hello MHB –
If you can ask what the commish will be
&
If only domains with buy it now prices will be on offer or if there will be a redirect to Sedo on non buy it nows for those that want to make an offer
&
Loads of people have a buy it now price on GD that is different to Sedo price, to take into account the commish %, which will take priority?
This is great news and the most obvious tie up that I am sure will make money for both companies and those that list their domains on this platform.

Sorry I forgot to say thank you.

Your welcome
I believe the commission rate for Godaddy sales is the same for the existing Sedo MLS product

If i have a domain listed with GD “premium listings”(Fixed price) or Gd “auction” will that domain be listed with sedo as well?
Michael H. Berkens says
I believe GD premium listings appear before Sedo of Afternic listings as they are at a higher commission 30%
Rich says
I think i was misunderstood,my listing with GD will it appear with Sedo automatically?
Michael H. Berkens says
Rich
I think you have to be on SEDO MLS to been seen on the Sedo side.
If you are using GD premium listing you will be seen on the GD side.
Rich says
Thank you
Ron says
I assume then all the Godaddy names when entered in sedo mls, will go to registers Enom, Moniker, etc…

Hi MHB,
Could you also inquire as to the final list of eligible/non-eligible tld’s accepted into SedoMLS. There seems to be conflicting info listed on Sedo’s website:
~~~~
Q1. Which TLD’s or extensions are eligible for SedoMLS Premium ?
Domains with the following extensions are eligible for participating in SedoMLS Premium:
.com .net .org .info .biz .co .de .me .nl .it .ch .li .ws .me
~~~~
Q2. If I list my domain names in the SedoMLS Promotion Network, which TLDs will be eligible for distribution at Go Daddy’s website?
Domains listed with Sedo and set with a Buy Now price are eligible for distribution at Go Daddy, via the SedoMLS network, as long as they have one of the following TLDs:
.com .net .org .info .us .biz .name
~~~~
I received the error message “TLD not supported by SedoMLS” when attempting to list a .us domain with SedoMLS (despite .us being listed as “eligible for distribution at Go Daddy, via the SedoMLS network”).
I assume the same issue would occur with .name (although I have no .name’s to test the assumption) as it is listed in the GoDaddy specific tld list but not on the general/overall SedoMLS tld list.
Thanks,
Steve
Well, I tried to locate at least one MLS-listed domain available for instant purchase through Godaddy. After checking a good number of fixed-priced domains from Sedo website (not regged through Godaddy registrar family to avoid godaddy “premium listings” submitted by registrants through their godaddy accounts), I did not yet find a single domain available for instant purchase at godaddy.com … However, a small %%% of fixed-priced domains was reported at godaddy search as available through GoDaddy auctions. Previously, I noticed the same with Afternic-listed domains.
So, while I may be wrong, it looks like that:
– GoDaddy is still trying to have as much domains as possible to be registrar-transferred to them. Seems to be the only way to have the domains listed through their 1st page for real instant purchase for a “small seller”, as both Afternic way and MLS way are not working as it should be
– GoDaddy still prefers to deal with a limited number of big sellers like BuyDomains or FabulousDomains in sense of listing non-GoDaddy-regged domains; Checking “show more like this” premium listings makes me think that their favorite sellers are 1) BuyDomains and 2) own customers paying 30% for premium listings… Domains from FabulousDomains portfolio are available through (or almost exclusively through) exact domain search only
If these statement are correct, with connection to Sedo MLS many things are unclear:
– Who will take care of GoDaddy auctions for Sedo MLS domains from sellers side? Registrants? Sedo? Does common Godaddy Auction rules like using escrow.com still apply? Who will pay sellers?
– Will the domains from started auctions be excluded from Sedo MLS instant sales channel while the auction is in progress?
– What about currency conversion etc. as Sedo supports a number of currencies for fixed priced listings?
Good move from GoDaddy, but they should better allow their premium listings to be shown at other Sedo MLS partners instead. Auctioning a fixed-priced domain is a bad idea by itself
Hank Williams says
BEWARE: Sedo gives domain sellers the option to sign up for SedoMLS, it is not required. However, fixed-price domains are being piped to Godaddy MLS, WITHOUT seller approval. SedoMLS means higher commissions of 20%. This is fine if you don’t care what commission gets your domain sold, but if the commission % is important to you, you should know that Sedo is using this tactic to increase sales. And it’s not right (and probably not legal).
Few weeks ago, one of my domain was sold.
It was registered in Dynadot and i placed it in Sedo and activate Sedo MLS.
I set Buy It Now for $150 and it was bought by someone from GoDaddy, so i got $100 (transfer fee paid by Sedo). Sedo got 20% or minimum $50.
If it were sold from Sedo directly, i must get more than $100.
That’s fair, i think :). Because i am not sure if it doesn’t reach GoDaddy market the domain will be sold faster.
Now i plan to transfer my domains to Dynadot.
Because i use Sedo, i like Dynadot better than GoDaddy for domaining.
What do you think?
Thanks
