According to a press release this morning the domain name Shot.com is now up for sale.
Counter to the most companies, the company that owned this domain, decided to lengthen its domain from Shot.com to TechShot.com
The company hired not a domain name broker to sell the domain but a lead Gen company LeadJen ( www.leadjen.com )
“”More than 60,000 online searches a month contain the keyword “shot,” LeadJen will be targeting companies in industries including sports, weapons and gaming.”
“Techshot gets several inquiries a month about selling the domain.”
“LeadJen anticipates that as many as 80 companies may be interested in bidding on the domain. Depending on the number of bidders, the domain has been appraised to sell for more than $500,000.”
Disclaimer: We do not own the domain, nor are we getting any compensation of any form (as always) for covering the story.

lengthen a domain is nonsense, sell the shorter domain is a bigger nonsense

Stolenideas,
I disagree. The word shot is not a keyword for their business. If the name of your company is techshot then techshot.com is a much better name. Reducing the domain to shot actually causes more confusion. You also don’t know what financial situation they are in or what they paid. Essentially they will get a FREE cash infusion of $500K into their business which will help them move forward much more than the domain shot will.

If they succeed, I’m listing my domains with them.

Tough to sell what really appears to be more of a brandable to an audience of established brands. I don’t think they’ll get far with this . I agree with 40z

If this metric were true,
Eco has 20 million monthly keyword searches,
over 300 times more than ‘shot’…
So that would make eco.org worth $150 million.
