Oversee.net recently fired some more Moniker.com staff.
Included in the recent round is a long time employee (since October 2006) was Account Executive Bari Meyerson.
Many of Bari’s clients frequently referred to her affectionately as the “Moniker Princess”
We noted last week that Moniker.com lost a huge amount of domains under management in 2011.
According to RegistrarStats.com Moniker fell to the 11th largest domain name registrar in the world, last week when FastHost.com passed them.
They started off 2011 as the 7th largest domain name registrar but lost some 800,000 domains under management throughout the year and still lost almost 80,000 domain names the last 30 days.
In our December Interview with the new Co-President of Oversee.net, Debra Domeyer we asked her about the future of Moniker.com:
Q.
The is a rumor that Moniker.com and/or Snapnames.com have been or are up for sale. What can you tell me about the sale of either or both of these companies?
A.
“We don’t comment on rumors or speculation on any of our business units.”
Andrew says
Michael, although she didn’t comment, public court records in the Monte Cahn case show that the company has been shopping Moniker.
owen frager says
Last year it was a fancy lunch outside, This year Domainfest will be buffet serving peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Guy says
ok, I officially now leave Moniker
hope the scumbags who own oversee are reading this
i have over 2,000 domains at moniker
I will be transferring them to godaddy
Monte went, that was bad, it never recovered after him selling company
then they treat Monte disgracefully who is a domaining legend and respected by all
but to sack beautiful Bari
she was their star executive, loved by everyone and helped me out many times
if godaddy have any sense they should sign Bari up as one of their future stars
I will be personally contacting whoever is in charge at oversee now to express my disgust and that after 6 years and thousands of domains later am leaving Moniker, NEVER to return
randomo says
Yep, hard to justify keeping my domains at Moniker any more. Customer service has been a constant pain there, with Bari being the only bright spot.
I’ve spent over $25K on regs and renewals at Moniker, but that stream will now be drying up.
Jamie Zoch says
@Randomo,
You took the words right out of my mouth. I was thinking the exact same thing.
On another note, I just logged into my Moniker account and the following is still stated:
Account Exec:Bari Meyerson
Louise says
Yes, but on balance, who is hiring high-salary executives? Who?
Sedo has let some of its high level executives go; Afternic has let some of its high level salesreps.
So, it has nothing to do with the climate of the domain business, @ MHB?
The top auction houses are fighting to survive, just like everybody else.
And Frank Schilling’s advcie is to sell and hold cash.
Steve Jones says
I’m shocked they would get rid of Bari. She always provided excellent service. It sounds like they care more about saving money and hoping to sell the company than about trying to right the ship. What a shame.
Bob Mountain - NameMedia / Afternic says
@Louise, there’s always turnover in any sales force but speaking for Afternic, we added sales reps in 2011 and plan to do the same in 2012. If you know any good ones please send them our way.
Louise says
Thanx, @ Bob Mountain! It’s reassuring to hear that it is business as usual. Oversee posts a bunch of job openings as well: oversee.net/careers
Dave Zan says
A shame to see this happen. But…it happens.
Recently I got helped by another Moniker agent some of you might know: Glenda May. At least she’s still there, and I hope they’ll take care of her as she took care of me with my recent dilemma.
domainguy says
For those who miss working with Bari I found out she is now at Enom.
