The auction for the domain name BustaRhymes.com ended today on NameJet.com with a winning bid of $1,300.
As we told you the other day the domain name BustaRhymes.com dropped when his management company apparently failed to renew the domain registration
In all there were 47 bidders and 8 willing to pay $100 or more, and 5 of those we willing to pay $500 or more.
So now that the domain name has sold, will the famous rapper file a UDRP on the domain?
According to compete.com the domain gets traffic as much as 2,800 visitors a month.
Does the new owner hope to make back his $1,300 in PPC revenue before the UDRP is filed?
Stay tuned.

Agree with Linda, too. It’s not like he is MJ, the Domain ain’t worth much, his biz isn’t dependent on it. He is selling his music via itunes and other platforms, plus he certainly has the money to buy it back without filing UDRP.
Happy holidays everyone.

What is the liability to a drop catcher service and/or drop catch-registrar for enabling the “new” ownership or even “owning” (during the 3 day auction period) TM hot potatos such as this ??
$$$$$$$$ says
good just to loose money

Nurse: That remains one of the great unresolved issues of domaining. They should be liable. In fact they are liable, but the focus seem to remain on the domainers.
There really need be no distinction between the two. A “domainer” can also be a registrar and vice versa. This is allowed under ICANN’s (lack of) rules. Registrars have been sued. It does happen.

Actually there have been many cases where such names are used as a fan site with legitimate interest in and fair use of the domain. For instance, it appears the #1 fan site for “Busta Rhymes” is http://www.bustarhymes.ws
It will be interesting to see what the buyer does with the domain and how Busta (or likely his representation) deals with it.
