Reinvent.com a/k/a HitFarm.com is planning to launch a new domain optimization and monetization platform called Proto, next year.
According to their site Proto goals are to:
“Improve returns by providing better monetization through innovative optimization and precisely targeted PPC advertising;
Analyze the aggregated traffic for valuable trend data to share with clients and inform R & D;
Leverage the massive network traffic to incubate new and accelerate existing businesses.
Leveraging the cloud and an advanced set of technical components, Proto cuts overall hardware costs while supporting a more scaleable application architecture that allows for real-time analytics, enhanced templates for domains and much more.”
Reinvent owns some of the prime properties on the net including:
BlackFriday.com
Vancouver.com
Laptop.com
DigitalCamera.com
HDTV.com
Notebook.com
BabyGifts.com
Backpacks.com
CarSeats.com
CheapTravel.com
Of course this year we saw Frank Schilling’s Domain Administration coming into the monetization space. Its good to see another one of the largest domain holders in the world planning on rolling out some new changes focused on increasing the bottom line to domain holders and we wish the Ham brothers the best of luck with the new project
Dan says
Hi,
Great domain ‘portfolio’ is…one of the understatement’s of the year.
“Black Friday” is always “Green Friday” for them!
Reinvent.com what a great domain, It’s perfect to “Re-Invent” your business at anytime 😉
Look forward to it…sounds very interesting.
Peace!

Kevin Ham’s a genius so I expect the platform to mount a serious challenge to Frank’s InternetTraffic. Kev wouldn’t get into the space unless he felt like they had something unique to offer. It should make things very interesting. Roll on the competition!
Shane says
As if the parking companies didn’t have enough to worry about without Schilling and Ham adding to their woes
Troy says
“Kev wouldn’t get into the space unless he felt like they had something unique to offer”
Kev has been founding failing businesses for years. The man has some incredible domains but he has yet to create anything of great value in the realm of development. It seems like all he touches dies a death of mediocrity.
I don’t expect this to be any different.
I would however be pleasantly surprised if I was wrong.
Andy Booth says
Granted, he has had his setbacks, but with the portfolio he leverages, you can expect a competitive rate of pay – certainly against many parking companies out there. In terms of monetizing names, Kevin has to be up there with the likes of Frank for sheer experience. Competition is always healthy!
Black Friday Boycott says
Do these guys also own BlackFridayBoycott dot com?
Tony says
They were dropping some pretty good names for much of 2011 but it looks like someone has sealed up the cracks in the past couple months.
I just wish FS and KH had rolled out their parking platforms in 2007 instead of now or next year because parking is so… 2007.
Gnanes says
More competition is always good. They need to reinvent the design of the site.
Robbie says
Reinvent has also invested in another company recently called Snog.com – it looks like a new startup that Kevin is involved in setting up.

cloud-based? will moving to cloud servers, assuming they are not located in the caymans, open them up to new potential liability?
Muli says
Owning both Laptop.com and HDTV.com?
I think he can sell each by at least 500K, not even mentioning the other domain he owns.

Thank you.Pretty much it.
Ham and Eggs says
For all the great domain names this guy owns he has accomplished absolutely nothing. Couldn’t even make a go of Vancouver.com with the Olympics in Vancouver.
Stephen Sanders says
I guess its good for the dynamic duo to have plenty of good names lying around ready to be pressed into service whenever they decide to “Re-Invent” themselves. I still refuse to believe that all the good names are taken up by a few people who kind of kick started an industry.
I don’t feel angry or bitter or anything, I just think somehow that the whole parking thing is fine and all, but really when most people get to domain parking site, they sort of click around a bit, and are happy to be back on their merry way.
I like Tony’s comment about parking being so 2007, not that I was in the game. Every time I bought some cool domain I kept thinking I was going to be millionaire, then I discovered estibot, and estibot was not even close when I came to my ability to dream.

if you own a handful of domains, development is a worthy consideration.
if you own 100’s of 1000’s of domains, development is not necessary. and it would be a foolish gamble to try to develop 100’s of 1000’s of domains. you can just have fun trying it on a few domains here and there. it’s a great position to be in.
in most cases, unless you are selling something directly from the web, the goal is the same whether you own 10 or 10,000 domains: attract advertisers.
to do that you need traffic.
development is only but one way to produce traffic. portfolios that number in the 100’s of 1000’s are not relying on development to produce traffic.
these are some sad comments.
gt76 says
of course you could also make some coin selling domains to development dreamers or less experienced domainers. some have succeeded with that strategy.
gt76 says
the last thing we want someone who visits a parked page to do is click on a sponsored link and leave our domain.
what good would that do?
yikes.
