The Land Rush for .XXX opened yesterday allowing you to order your .XXX domain at a premium price before General Availability begins in December.
So the question is how many Land Rush Apps will be submitted for a .XXX domain name?
The Sunrise period of .XXX generated over 80,000 Applications.
For the record the last ccTLD launch of .Co generates less than 20K Sunrise apps.
Land Rush in .Co was under 30K.
You can make your picks on the right and for bragging rights you can place the exact picks below.

I would order some names but I am too scared it will go to auction or Godaddy may not be able to aquire the name for me for $199. Godaddy says if they can’t get the name I will still lose my $100 application fee. Does anyone else feel the same way about that? So I would say there will not be as many Landrush applications because of this. Unless you have deep pockets which many of do not.

Hi,
A lot of ‘defensive regs’ for this one, especially from Colleges & Universities which have already started. I voted 100k+…its not like you have to put out 185K for a proactive defense move on this extension.
It would be interesting to see the actual breakdown in numbers…the ratio of people and or companies registering because they are already in the “XXX” business area, and the number of registrations, that are purely being registered for proactive…brand & /or reputation protection purposes.
Take a generic word like ‘Duke’…if the University does not end up with it…I am sure some enterprising person could put up a site, that the school might not find to ‘tasteful’…lets say. Maybe with even some of the students going to that particular University featured on it.
Or the ‘generic’ word ‘Tigers’… which could apply to a few Colleges and their sports teams. ‘Ducks’ (NHL & Oregon College) etc…
Just a couple early morning thoughts 😉

Why is there no big dot CO announcement now?
MHB says
Bull
Why would there be?
BullS says
You see, in this domain industry, it is you scratch my back and I scratch yours and whoever has the bigger sharper finger nails win the respect.
There is no dot CO or any gtld announcement is because they want XXX to get all the attention.
If there is a big sale on dot co, this will take away the XXX thunder and the sales will go down.
Again, dot com is king and domains are just a BS word game and all websites are totally “BullS’

@Dave,
If you enter into Landrush you are guaranteed one of 2 things (and that is what the non refundable fee is for)
1) that if you are the solo applicant you will be awarded the name
2) if there are more than one application you will get a place in the ensuing auction. In that event whether you end up with the name is in your own hands.
There is no question of GoDaddy or any other registrar for that matter “not getting the name for you’, its in your hands , not theirs.
As a side note, in the Landrush for .co circa 90% of all applicants had only one request and were directly awarded as a result.
Hope that helps.

Hi,
No doubt that this is a huge online business with or without “.XXX”
It would seem to me, that the person or company that comes up with the biggest & best “SE” for only .XXX domain extensions…could do very, very well.
The ‘Google’ of just .xxx porn sites.
I am sure more than one company must have this idea in the works…no?
Peace!

** These guys need to think about the ‘generic’ names their schools use also, by this article, it looks like it has not even entered their minds**

I requested the breakdown of Sunrise Apps between blocks, TM holders adult domain holders etc, but ICM politely declined
Dan says
@”MHB”
Cheers! “politely declined”,
I am sure this response was not ‘unexpected’…very ‘heads up’ for trying to get the information anyway 😉
Thanks Michael…

All what matters now is how ICM will handle the whole situation. Every decision ICM makes now and during the General Availability is very important and crucial, and will paint a clear road map and pave the way for the company’s .Therefore, integrity is what really matters and I believe ICM will handle the pressure very well (watching their video interviews and confrences)

@ Ben
Agreed. Anyone that has taken the time to learn about ICM would know that this is a very serious and professional group of people who are going to do whatever it takes to make this extension a success. Personally, I think the domain industry is lucky to have such a solid group running this registry.

Why on earth would college universities be paying off pornographers? Seems like fishy business going on. Not sure how .XXX is getting away with this. Also seems like their flying under the radar with this scheme. Hopefully that wont continue much longer.
L. Asher Corson says
ICM are not pornographers, they are a domain name registry.
Dave says
Does anyone think that these names might be able to be a portal for the .xxx registry? I got them a while back and was curious if they are any good:
GTLDXXX.com
RightXXX.com
RegistarXXX.com
