HostExploit.com which publishes a quarterly list of the of the “Top 50 Bad Hosts & Networks” just published its report for the 3rd Quarter of 2011 and of 39,056 servers they analyze they named Oversee.net the owner of DomainSponsor.com, as the worse in the world.
“”The HostExploit Top 50 Bad Hosts & Networks series and related quarterly reports is our way of contributing to the fight against cybercrime. Our aim is to raise awareness about where badness is being hosted and to provide a means for hosts to benchmark the cleanness of their service against others in the industry.””
“”HostExploit analyzes all 39,056 currently advertised and commercial hosts (ASNs) with the results represented in a number of ways.””
Host Exploit says they look at “spam, phishing Exploited servers, botnets, badware and malware and infected websites.”
Oversee.net wasn’t just first on the list they were 1st by a mile getting a HC score of 292 the next highest score was 226 with only one of the other 50 bad host receiving a score in the 200’s.

Oversee makes it difficult to report spammers and scammers hosting with them,
and if you do waste enough time to get a report through, they ignore.

Add that to my earlier comment i=on another thread here:
“Frank disrupted the entire industry. DomainSponsor used to have in excess of 2.1 million domain when I started keeping track and that was well after the launch of Frank’s program. Last time I looked at was at 1.4 million and change. When you lose 33% of your business, THAT is a problem. When you lose the 33% of your business that was actually 80% of your top domains, survival is not going to come easy. When the biggest tree falls, the rest are in their shadow.”
That was BEFORE the latest round of bad news you just posted. I think we are witnessing a terminal cancer here.

there is a saying in swedish: “shit shall shit have”

Okay, well, Sweden just came off the list of my must-see places. I thought that was the title of an unusual German movie which I saw by mis-typing a domain name once….

I tried to warn people when the RICO action was taken and the Verizon lady was running around with those slides that fingered Oversee as the villain who shows up in all the wrong places- there would be gilt by association and traffic scores would suffer. Perhaps there’s where the immediate chunk of increase comes with the move to IT. With Frank you get honor by association.

what if those were non producers and they were simply culling them out?

I just Googled the term “shit shall shit have” and the only reference on the entire internet to it, is now on this blog
I don’t think I would cross Sweden off the list just yet.

Well Oversee.net wasn’t number 1 on the bad server list before

hahah, it is of course a literal translation.
“skit ska oversee ha” is the real one

There’s not enough information in the report to determine what’s really going on. Doesn’t Oversee have a hosting operation that came with Moniker? Usually when a hosting company flies up the list like that its because some bad guys found the hosting company doesn’t shut them down very quickly so they abuse the privilege. Its pretty unlikely that this has anything to do with DomainSponsor.

Just a couple of minor points:
1. Probably obvious to many but Google’s publicly accessible cache != the entire internet. Or even the entire web. Not even close. Many data sources are connected to the internet but search engines have always been severely limited in what they can successfully crawl. As such, to bolster the impression they are “organising (all) the world’s information”, Google has a vested interest in finding, creating or encouraging others to create more digitised information they can access and “organise”. Google sez: More data please.
2. Correct me if this is incorrect, but under the current scheme, when you search Google, you are getting results that are tailored to your location. A searcher in the United States does not get the same results as a searcher in Sweden. With some effort this limitation can be worked around, but it is by no means easy for the average searcher.

6000+ BS search sites all owned by Oversee.net and Google are paying them or are so stupid as not to know who they are.
Virus > Oversee.net > Google > DoubleClick > PPC Customer = Profit for Oversee.net, Google takes a cut & More pain for the public.
Just 3 of the 6000
