Quick Poll: Which Domains With A Reserve Price of $100K+ Will Sell At The Domainfest/SnapNames Auction?

September 3, 2011 by Michael Berkens

The Domainfest NY meetup auction ends on September 20th at 3:15pm EST so on this labor day weekend we thought we would put up a poll asking you which domain(s) with a reserve of  100K or more  will sell at the auction.

There are 45 domain names with a reserve price of $100K or more, so we are giving you 5 picks but you must make all 5 at one time.

Of course you can also vote that  “none will sell”

Please vote on the poll on the right and place any comments below for bragging rights

Here are your choices:

I like hardcore and companion, they both look promising…at least the prices are realistic.

    +++++++

For that amount of money, one should be getting a TRIPLE-Redundant Network-based Digital Wallet with the domains (and ownership credentials) burned into the flash memory.

You may need that Digital Wallet to carry into a court to show the judge you really “own” the domain(s). An expert can display the contents/credentials.

Without that kind of proof, you “own” nothing you can hold in your hands.
You do not even have a Title from a government with a gold embossed seal.

Only because you asked for five picks…mine are:

    (1) etv.com; (2) lendingmoney.com; (3) suv.com; (4) vocalist; and (5) saas.com .

I’d be quite surprised if saas.com (‘software as a service’) didn’t sell for more than the given range; likely, $600K – $850K. Its an industry term that exemplifies cloud computing and the distribution of apps from the cloud. There are a ton of potential buyers, including Salesforce.com, Amazon, Google, …and probably even a few private equity firms.

    ——————

People with advance copies of the new DNS software know that 4-Letter .COM names have value because they come with FREE IP Address Blocks.

BTW, it is interesting to see Domainers distracted with $100,000 domain names when the insiders are trading IP Address Space for 100x that amount. They do
not want Domainers in their IP Address Space trading markets. Someone might
notice the IP Address Space originated from some DOD or NFS project and now
is being sold privately. Does Uncle Sam care a $100,000,000 asset slipped away?

saas will generate $13 billion this year up from $3 billion last year
It’s recession-proof, it’s a competitive edge for hundreds of thousands of companies who previously couldn’t afford $10 million custom crm systems
domain should be worth at least 10% of the market value
IBM, EMC, VMWare, Citrix, Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, SAP, Apple, etc
Each pay over a million dollars to branding consultants to think up names then 100s of millions more on PR and advertising to make them known
Saas is like iTunes, it’s all digital, you don’t need much more than a great piece of code and marketing to build a billion business
You also shouldn’t need an auction to sell it

The incredible value of SaaS is realized and buyers want in

ETV.com is a nice domain, highly brandable. The reserve is about right.
I own one of the 26 LTV.coms and it’s a premium letter. The highest offer I have received was close to $200k.

@Zonqur, generally most names are valued based on greed.

Most names that actually trade are not…( with rare exceptions, like end user trades )

I swear I see name sthere that couldnt get $100k 3-4 years ago but now want $500k-$750k LOL

G-R-E-E-D or in the case of the american owners can translate to Oh crap I over spend and live a life I cannot afford, maybe I can get $500k for this name woth $50k.

    Happy holidays!

companion, hardcore, suv, hot, hit – all great domains, so voted for them.

Not sure what will sell and what won’t though, specially with those reserves.

I don’t see a seven figure tag for any of them tbh.

I can only pick 4 domains here worth more than $100k

hot – Hugely Brandable, Adult Clothing, Fashion, Beauty, etc.
    etv – ExtraTV EntertainmentTV, etc.
handgun – Killer Product Domain (No pun intended) 🙂
hardcore – The best type of porn available…or music too. lol

I seriously believe that Hot will be the winner in this auction by a landslide.

An amazing name missing from this list is: TechStartups.com – which is for sale and would easily surpass the 100k mark.

Some of those names and asking prices are just crazy.

Which is interesting because the nice folks at Moniker at times seem very selective about their valuations yet which names they want to broker.
