Sedo just reported it’s sales for the week and sold just about $650K in domain names led by NBB.com which sold for $95,000 and on which we reported earlier today
On the non-.com from the domain Pact.de sold for around $25,000 (19,000 Euro’s) and Melody.net sold for $14K a nice sale for that domain IMHO.
That’s $1.2 million between Sedo and Afternic for the last week of August, not too shabby.

Being smarter now, I take Prozac and Marijuana before reading the listing so no puking on the blog.

XDT.com for less than $4,000. Bargain for the buyer.

I’m curious to know who buys (and why) domains like ikiler.com or aimeng.com
TheBigLieSociety says
“I’m curious to know who buys…”
===
It all makes no rational sense. Maybe it is mostly Pump and Dump ?
but trading baseball cards makes no sense to people either…
…another explanation is it is the same people churning names
but there must be New.Money (suckers) arriving to fuel the pyramid…
as people move to New Platforms, the eyeballs and money will erode (maybe)
BullS says
Inside job….
show us the financial transaction…show us the names of the buyers….
Be more transparent.
I always smell fishy reading the list.
TheBigLieSociety says
Inside job….

Just think, as new Top Level Domains emerge the New Registries can create FAKE Sock Puppets who are alleged to be buying up the Founder’s Names and Sunrise and Sunset and any other Specials…
…drawing in suckers to the Pump and Dump Multi-Level-Marketing Pure Internet Play name game
wonder if the .COM Registry has Fabricated some of the Famous Domainers ?
….wow look there is Joe Domainer – He has 200,000 .COM domains (and pays nothing for them…?)
BullS says
Big L S—you and I are the only one that is smart to read in bet those lines.
Robert Cline says
LLL s make up 3 of the top 10 sales.
LLL.Co s are the bargain at this stage of the game.
Fire Sale
all LLL.Co s are on sale for $2,500 this week.
contact me via whois info or through my link.

That is the 3rd time wop dot com has been bought and sold in the last 2 years, I guess
there is not much you can do with it!
BullS says
Will the sellers of the domains please raise your hand…..
all hands lead to…one dummy company.

“Pump and Dump”
it’s what I often think regarding some domains sold…
TheBigLieSociety says
“all hands lead to…one dummy company”

Eventually Verisign (or the Registrars) will be left holding the bag on .COM
With Peer-2-Peer DNS there is no central company
…it will be an interesting transition
Mr. FeeWatcher says
Should be interesting to see if the August 50% SEDO brokerage fee increase (from 10% to 15%) on basic listings works out or actually ends up backfiring and hurting SEDO profitability…due to less listings or unaccepted asking price boosts due to compensating for “elevated” commissions.. and therefore resulting in less domains sold and less profits due to decreased volume of transaction closings & listings.
Zonqor says
I agree with BS totally… I dont believe those sales, especially with garbage names…show us the prove!!
Zonqor says
If Sedo puts up their commissions, they would have ruined the pudding, they are doing so well thanks to their lower and reasonable commissions.
What will happen is that the seller will put the price up to make up the difference, but this will inflate prices, hence less sales or no sales. 🙁
Think twice SEDO!!
*** please, click on this link, thanks *** says
“especially with garbage names”
yes, who buys and use a “garbage name” for a successful website?
JNet says
“yes, who buys and use a “garbage name” for a successful website?”
———————–
Dunno yet…..have to wait n’ see …. cuz:
a) Garbage.com has a “coming soon” banner
b) Trash.com is on a parked page
BANG !
David Eccles says
Every week that i read these “Sedo” and “Afternic” sales post I fall out of my chair. I am guessing the names that do not make sense must be high traffic names. Why would someone buy these names for $2500 or more??
TheBigLie Society says
“Why would someone buy these names for $2500 or more??”
=====
That is the $64,000 question.
There is also a $185,000 question coming soon.
One answer is… there are people with near infinite Disposable.Income or CASH
JC says
MHB,
It’s frustrating to read the blog when there are all sorts of spam comments that are no different than the viagra and xxx web spam. When will you stop allowing people like
“TheBigLieSociety”
“BullS”
“*** please, click on this link, thanks *** ”
“Robert Cline”
and other spammers to stop taking over. These people add nothing to articles and its annoying to read. They are either paid spammers or have nothing better to do but post spam links every time you write an article.
Have I mentioned its annoying to read?
MHB says
JC
Its even more annoying for me but I don’t regard these are spam as they are not directly selling anything.
I do take down quite a few comments where people are directly trying to sell something.
Big Lie we block his IP address and he was gone for 2-3 months now he is back
You should see the amount of comments we take down
On the other hand he is quite smart, and knows a LOT about internet infrastructure but he is so smart only he knows most of the time what he is talking about
Mr. Cline is a .Co # 1 fan so I try to balance his free speech rights against being over the top.
really the same for anyone.
bulls well I think you can tell by the name.
We try hard over here
BullS says
@JC aka the no balls anonymous..
Yea, I am a highly paid spammer and we don’t hide under girl’s skirt like you.
You can click “BullS” -aboutME and you will know more about me.
SO who the F are you?
Hemendra Kumar Saini says
How can i register .de domain name, as somebody told me there is some kind of local presence required to register domain name but it seem .de making money with some english words.
MHB says
many registrars handle .de registrations
you can google .de domain name registrars
John says
Whether someone is smart or not means nothing for off topic posting, but I guess anything to get pageviews up. And before you come back with, “I don’t need pageviews and I am doing the world a service by blogging” You are the only blogger that allows these clowns, Cheers to Andrew and Shane and Theo who block them.
MHB says
John
I do my best to weight freedom of speech against spammy comments
I’m comfortable running the blog in the manner its being run.
I think Andrew, Shane and Theo all run great blogs and are a valuable resource for the domainer community
Zonqor says
I agree with MHB, and also think that he has a great blog… Its good to have critics to start a debate and I am sure that MHB knows what he is doing, I see no spamming as criticized… there is the good the bad and the spy/ammer..
LS Morgan says
Will the sellers of the domains please raise your hand…..
all hands lead to…one dummy company.
——-
Raises hand.
One was mine. I mentioned it in this blog before the list was public, so there shouldn’t be any question about it.
