Raymond James Ltd. and Ubequity Capital Partners Inc., along with several others, assisted the financing.
Toronto based Direct Media Technologies is an internet company that specializes in domain ownership, domain monetization and domain sales. The company owns over 80,000 Internet domains and derives revenue through advertisements.
Direct Media Technologies intends to use proceeds to continue to aggressively consolidate its focused niche of the web domain sector.
“Direct Media Technologies said it has been working on several acquisitions in parallel to the financing process. “..We look forward to (i) completing these transactions, (ii) ingesting these acquired portfolios into our technology-led business processes, (iii) providing increased performance for our advertisers and (iv) continuing to look ahead to larger scale opportunities,” said Ted Steube, CEO of Direct Media Technologies.”
“Direct Media Technologies said it now plans to embark on a US $30 million financing which is anticipated to be a hybrid of debt and equity”.
“Internet advertising continues on its explosive growth curve, taking share from virtually all other advertising mediums.”
“DMT is well positioned in the ecosystem as end users navigate to DMT’s stable of web domains without the need for search engine optimization or any kind of paid promotion. ”
“We are pleased to have acted as DMT’s financing agent on this successful US$4.2 million offering and look forward to a continued partnership with the company as it grows,” says Kia Besharat, Managing Director at Ubequity Capital Partners”
According to a bio on found on Mr. Steube, he “raised $160 million for JumpTV. He has completed 13 acquisitions for KIT Digital in less than three years, and joined Direct Media Technologies in October 2010.”
Nice to see someone in the space hitting the big time.

You know much about there portfolio or what they have?
Good news and congratulations in fund raising
Jump.tv expired in april
Dean says
Funny, in trying to find their website through direct navigation, directmediatechnologies.com is for sale?
LindaM says
Jump.tv actually dropped about 30 minutes ago. Its now available to reg for a cool $2k 🙂
MHB says
Domain
No I don’t know any domains they own and couldn’t find anything about them
Maybe someone else here knows them
Gene says
Very nice to see additional funding coming into this space – and to see a major financial institution associated with this capital raise.
George Kirikos says
I’ve never heard of them either. It’s odd to find a press release without a link to the website of the company.
BullS says
Just a typical BS website for them…..
anybody can put a press release and suckers will just gobble up.
Remember folks, everyone out there is always going to make a buck from you.
Domain Candy says
Never heard of them.
Gazzip says
directmediatech.com is their website but there’s not alot on it atm, I’m surprised that someone could own 80,000 domains and not already be very well known….considering how often we all do whois lookups 😉
It was Jumptv.com he raised $160 million for.
Josh says
My guess, this portfolio has been around, just under a new name now. Looks like the company name only existed since last year. So once we know something from the portfolio we may recognize the whois…tick tock
ADR says
If you look at the contact us page on their site their address is the same as Ubequity Capital Partners.
Maybe they are really good at hiding what they do. But something smells a little bit fishy to me. Why put out a press release if there is nothing to show or seemingly gain? And nobody here can find much info. A press release seems to make little sense….
ADR says
And to followup.. I assume this is legit as ubequity seems to be reputable. I agree they most likely bought a portfolio or two. But what are the domains…?
functor says
When you are an Ivy League graduate (actually you don’t even need to graduate), people will believe what you say. And they will entrust you with their money. Attending an Ivy League university can give instant credibility.
For example, you might raise money from investors to buy domains having previously known traffic. And collect the ad revenue. Some call this “domaining”. But MBA’s won’t use that term. Language is important.
Got a great portfolio to sell? Maybe DMT will agree to acquire it.
Samit Madan says
As a portfolio owner I’m more interested in the valuation the company received and what percentage of that was based on the domain portfolio and on the revenue.
That would really help clarify the investment and the objectives they hope to achieve with it.
Do these guys have any developed properties that anyone knows about?
