The domain name Violet.com just sold for $65,000 on Sedo.com
The domain currently forwards to a site called pinstripegifts.com.
It seems like a good web 2.0 domain.
Congrats to the buyer and seller

This sale is either directly related to the purchase of Color.com (for 350K), or just rose in sympathy value because it’s a ‘color.’

Wonder if the buyer will attempt to sell it for much more, like Amy Schrier did with Blue.com. (Which she bought in 2002 for this exact same $65,000 price, and then sold in 2006 for $500,000.) Too much of a coincidence… was it Amy again? π

Umm, then try and sell them for more? Hopefully you’re not referring to “AMAppZon,” though. π

Personally, I think the seller could have gotten more than $65K for it, although as always when negotiating for higher prices is involved, it would have taken longer. But it’s all about one’s negotiation skills and the perceived value of one’s property. Why is Violet.com worth $65K? Someone who could care less about the name, (or the Internet in general), wouldn’t pay $10 for it. But for some reason, this buyer thought it was worth at least $65K. And while they may or may not have thought that was all it was worth, there’s likely someone else out there who would have paid more. It’s a fun game, negotiating. And when you play it, you have to know there will be times when the buyer walks away. That’s okay. Because just like love, there isn’t just one person out there who could be interested in you. (Or your domain name, in this case.)
