According to a Press Release just issued the domain name WebSiteHosting.com sold for $190,000.
A company called Terran Marketing announced that they purchased websitehosting.com from a private seller for $190,000.
Michael Jackness also made a post on his personal blog vowing to document the progress of Website Hosting “every step of the way”. It’s his way of giving back to the affiliate community that made him so successful today. The initial post outlines his thought process for buying the domain and what makes it so valuable.
The transaction just took place a few days ago,and the new site is set to launch March 1, 2011.

Nice.
CreditCard.AC says
Wow – monster number for that domain. This is going to be an interesting year for domain-sales…

Uzoma says
That is interesting. I own WEBSITEFORHOSTING.COM and don’t see much difference between the two, even tho I suppose mine is slightly better.
Tony says
That’s a great buy.
CreditCard.AC says
@Uzoma,
Unfortunately, the “for” in your domain-name makes the domain virtually worthless, unless you plan to add value to the domain by actually developing the site.

There maybe truth to what you wrote. I intend to develop it myself, I own a bunch of FOR domains that I hold as a Network, I own virtually anything For, example: websiteforsex.com, websiteforsports.com etc Plus I also hold “thewebsitefor-” networks on those 600 plus networks. Just like you like to do
CreditCard.AC says
@Uzoma,
In that case, I say develop the hell out of them. We took much the same approach with our coWORD.co domains…we feel these hold great potential, but only if we see our vision through by developing them.
Good luck to you.

Hi Uzoma
There is a lot of difference between your domain websiteforhosting.com and websitehosting.com.
Choose “EXACT” search option, you would see there are less than 10 searches per month but there are around 50,000 searches per month for “website hosting”.
Websitehosting.com is much, much better.
Mike says
Thanks for the update. I will read Michael’s blog just to hear how he plans to develop the site. I’m actually a competitor in the space w/ a small affiliate website that I play with that has the exact same keywords in the domain (my domain is shitty though). I think his payback period will be longer than 2 years, but he will get his money back eventually. It’s a great domain. Web hosting is extremely competitive for SEO and SEM as expert affiliates marketers dominate the space. Hosting providers are willing to pay north of $100 for a web hosting customer that only pays $5/month. There’s literally thousands of website hosting related affiliate websites, many with high PR’s and aged domains that he’ll be competing against. Hopefully Michael realizes the odds of him cracking the first page of Google for “Website Hosting” within a year are long even with the exact match domain. It will be fun to watch what happens. And if any of you domainers are thinking of starting a web hosting related site – don’t – unless you’re an expert PPC or SEO guy. Cut your development teeth on an easier sector.
Uzoma says
Favorite domains,
Okay, I’ll accept that for now 🙂

unless you have TYPE IN TRAFFIC looking for web hosting
SL says
So based on my proprietary domain valuation algorithm, that makes WebSiteHosting.AC worth somewhere around $728,655. Give or take $50.
Secure Hosting says
Mike,
Great generic term domain but as someone who’s been in this space for 10+ years, the mountain this guy has to climb is huge. He’ll spend another 6 figs just getting top 10 rank for his key term.
He might find some money in the long tail though.
Interesting to note that google autocorrects ‘web site hosting’ to ‘website hosting’ …

Nice sale and the domain is well worth it in the right hands. He didn’t just find $190K to spend on a domain under a rock, so it seems to be going to someone who can do something with it!
On a side note, I visited the buyers blog and thought for a second his name was Mike Jackass. LOL Mike Jackness is pretty close as you glance at the address bar. 🙂

Hope cloud hosting does not take over…
BullS says
So will websiteshosting dot com duplicate what he is going to do?
Mike says
C’mon @Uzoma, Comparing websitehosting.com to websiteforhosting.com is like comparing a brand new beautiful BMW to a 20 year old Ford Pinto – they’re not even close to being in the same league.
Uzoma says
Mike, not a ford pinto, may be a Camaro Z28
BullS says
What I am referring is….most of the websites will be hosted in the cloud so it makes sense to have websitescloudhosting dot com
“brand new beautiful BMW to a 20 year Yugo”
SL says
Grandma just wants her apple pie recipes to show up on a website.
She doesn’t care if it’s hosted on a shiny new Rackspace cloud instance, or an overloaded 256k VPS sitting in a closet in Nairobi.
Ergo, website hosting.
Anunt says
First, i would like to congratulate the new owner of websitehosting.com …finally a decent domain name for a decent price…definately worth it!
Uzoma, my advice to you…stop registering domain names…save your money!
You are a total idiot and a complete moron…if you really don’t see the difference between websitehosting.com and websiteforhosting.com
Your domain name websiteforhosting.com is worth ZERO…nothing….stop registering BS domains!
CreditCard.ac, your co.word.co domains are worth ZERO also…stop wasting your time registering bullshit domains…you are also a complete moron and a total idiot…you must be friends with uzoma…if not, you guys should meet up on a bridge and jump off…waste of human life…freaking morons!
BullS, do you also own bullshitdomains.com — if you do, add websiteforhosting.com on your list and all of his other BS domains…also add creditcard.ac guys co.word.co domains on that bullshit list.
BullS, now i know why you registered bullshitwebsites…i just hope you own bullshitdomains.com also…i see alot of potential here with these domains…cause i see way too many idiots and morons with bullshitdomains and bullshitwebsites!
Before i go…need to mention one more idiot…SL who posted, “WebSiteHosting.AC worth somewhere around $728,655. Give or take $50.” — please go find the nearest bridge and jump off…you freaking idiot!
Uzoma says
Anunt, you said the same things about flower.mobi only to turn around and buy it; so you know, I will not sell you my beautiful domains after you talk them down, stupid.
My domain that you mentioned is not parked, or listed for sale. I have developed some of its sister network such as websiteforelectronics.com, and I make much more money on that alone than all your flower websites combined, stupid. So, lay off the crack for a while, pal. I will conquer the internet from Google with names such as websiteforhosting.com, before not too long!
Uzoma says
BullS,
The approach to domain names, as far as I’m concerned is 1. Orthodox and 2. Unorthodox.
You don’t know what anyone has in mind when they registered their domain names; the best thing to do is to ask Anunt to keep his and your dirty mouth shut, and watch.
Sometimes, a domainer takes a gamble or two: for example, last year I reg’ed some RomeyPaul2012.com, if those three (Romney, Rep. Paul, or his son Sen Paul) doesn’t get to run together, I lose, if they do I win. That is the name of the game. To each his own; if you want to follow trends, fine, I don’t follow much, I lead! I don’t take orders, I give ’em.
SL says
Anunt may not be the sharpest knob in the toolbox, but that post is 100% spot on.
Speaking of missing the joke, did he really buy flowers.mobi? Heh.
LS Morgan says
anunt, any way I can get a flowers.mobi email?
Pretty please?
CreditCard.AC says
@Anunt,
As the mental midget who blew thousands on Flowers.mobi, you are really in no position to be dispensing advice as to what is, or is not a wise domain registration.
We registered our “coWORD.co” domains for development, not for re-sale. You purchased flowers.mobi because you believed the domain held value for a profitable resale down the road – you ma’am, were wrong, and are a fool.

I’ve got a feeling Anunt looks like his avatar – a stupid, curious little monkey. 🙂

While I’m not certain, based on the historic context clues of reecord, I’m guessing he bought Flowers.mobi to frost Schwartz’s ass- meaning, he is someone who can afford to spend thousands, just to frost someones ass.

@LS Morgan,
No, that’s not the feeling most get with regards to the Flowers.mobi purchase – most feel it was a stupid, poorly planned, and wasteful purchase. As “TeddyK” so succintly put it, Anunt is not unlike a foolish monkey.

Congrats to both the seller & buyer, Mr G is going to like your domain.. ALOT.

Shit, this thread is unreal..
You’ve got dumb, dumber & dumbest all together in 1 thread giving advise to each other!
– uzoma – with his ” network” of 600 crappy “for-in-between-keywords” domains
– creditcard.ac – with his crappy co(keyword).co domains
– anunt – with his flowers.mobi bought for $6500, bragging about owning one of Schwarz’s sloppy seconds..
And – this – after .MOBI is officially RIP & D.O.A
Like buying worthless Enron shares..
Frickin hilarious
Uzoma says
Aggro,
Ordinarily, you will be right, but you are wrong when it comes to assessing mine.
Here is why:
Presently, domains are measured with Google’s yardstick, and I intend to end this bull.
I own over 9000 other domains that are keyword-centric as a back-up.
Some domains are not for PPC, or even resale, so you need to remove your myopic glasses.
Having said that, the initial post I made comparing my websiteforhosting.com to websitehosting.com, was done tongue-in-cheek; I did accept BMW to CamaroZ28 discount, and of course rejected the Pinto or Yugo as I should. It’s my domain, and I determine how much it should go for, at least, I have 50% input at the minimum.
You are right in regards the others on your post, especially on that clown, anunt.
Rod says
Paid far too much money for it but good luck to the seller. His/hers/their dream must have come true 🙂
jer says
the biggest difference between “websiteforhosting.com” and “websitehosting.com” is something that is often overlooked. websiteforhosting is a noun or thing, websitehosting is an action or verb. when looking to host a website noone is saying “i need to find a website for hosting”, they are saying “i need to find hosting for MY website”..hence websitehosting is by far a much better domain outright….however, that being said; if there is no type-in traffic, they can both be developed as equals and share equal value as they are both easy enough to remember…
Uzoma says
To: jer
You are absolutely fair in your analysis.
Type in traffic is good, but ultimately exaggerated in most cases. Every business should be prepared to bring in clients or customers from many angles. A name that specifies what it does, such as websiteforhosting.com does have its merits, the only demerits is how Google factors their algorithm, in my opinion, is an artificial problem. If the world was static, doesn’t move or revolve, then, it will be safe to assume that one model fits all, and is permanent.
I do have other properties developed in the realm of hosting and affiliate sites, for example: domainlocus.com
SL says
I’ll bet if you asked Aggro his opinion of the Successclick 3D thread, his head would explode. Literally. Like grey matter on the chandelier and bits of eye on the wallpaper.
Go ahead Uzo, try it.

I submit that even if websiteforhosting.com was in #1 position on Google and websitehosting.com was in #2 position, the CONSUMER would be more likely to click on websitehosting.com than websiteforhosting.com. You cannot just pick domain names for what Google thinks about them; you also have to consider whether or not the consumer trusts the domain name enough to click on it. The websiteforhosting.com domain seems sketchy to me as a consumer. Websitehosting.com just feels right.
ACIDY.ORG says
William,
Since you seem to know about poker players, have you heard of a guy by the name of “Butch Acidy”? He’s supposed to be a high staked poker player?

The online-poker market will do well once the .gov legalizes online poker in the U.S. – I think they’ll probably do it if it means an increase in tax revenues.
