Happy Birthday To Us!!!! We Turn 3

December 4, 2010 by Michael Berkens

Today marks our 3rd birthday.

I know, I can’t believe it either.

Our first post was December 4th 2007.

In three years we have published over  2,400+ posts,  over 31,000 comments and had well over 1.7 million visitors.

Wow

Thanks to all of you who read and comment as you all have contributed to the success of the blog.

I can’t express how much I appreciate your loyal readership and interaction.

It was just a couple of months before I started writing the blog that my good friend Sahar called me and said “You should start blogging”.

I remember answering him, “why the hell would I want to do that?”

A month later I bought this domain name, TheDomains.com at an auction for $1,180 and the rest as they say, is all Sahar’s fault.

A lot of people ask me what the best thing about blogging is, and my answer is always that it has afforded me the opportunity to have meet and communicated with with so many smart, entrepreneurial people in and out of the domain business who I would never had the opportunity to meet or chat with otherwise.

I’m often asked what is the worst thing about blogging is and my answer for that is always the same as well.

Its takes a HUGE amount of time and it at times is a HUGE pain in the ass.

But I would have traded a day of it.

Now we are on to the next one, year 4.

Hold on its going to be a bumpy ride.

My sincere apologies to the domain industry and the rest of our fellow citizens all around the world. I feel like Frankenstein. I created a monster (albeit one we all admire)

Congrats Mike, and to many more to come. You’re a true inspiration to many of us.

    Best,

    Sahar

You came out at the right time, when most domainers were fed-up with the noise and non-sense brewing at most forums.
I get my daily fix here…

Your site and a couple of others are the toastmasters to a generation of domain entrepreneurs. If it were not for you voice and the couple of others both domain investors and non-domain investors would have a lot less understanding of the space.

Thanks so much. You do a wonder for us and the industry.

One of only a few of my must-reads of each day.

Given the amount of time and work you devote here, 3 years has got to be (or at least sometimes feel) like 5-6 domainer/blogger years. 😉

The biz wouldn’t be the same w/out you.
