I am seeing lot’s of good .tv sales going on.
TLD says
I think utensils.net for $1,500 was a steal. I can see that being developed and doing well.
Gazzip says
“PlaygroundEquipment.net for an astounding $59,600.”
EEEK, how’d they do it???
donny says
Nice sales for these type of names. Also tablets.com was bought it seems. Noboddy seems to know the price? Any ideas?
the suborbital space tourism is TOO dangerous says
so also my domains at Afternic can sell well 🙂
Jamie says
PlaygroundEquipment.net didn’t surprise me all that much as I was aware of a buyer purchasing the other TLD’s recently.
PlaygroundEquipment.org $5,000.00 Sedo.com
PlaygroundEquipment.info $10,000.00 PvtSale
PlaygroundEquipment.biz $4,000.00 PvtSale
All mainly purchased in September 2010 and with $10K spent on the .info. We may see the .com reported at some time, since they locked up the others so far.

V9.com … to be used for… ???
MHB says
Looks like a parked page

Jamie
Ok but what is the difference that makes the .org sell for$5k and the .net sell for $60k?, the than the seller demanding a different price
Jamie says
@Michael,
I think the .org seller got snookered a little bit and simply left money on the table at $5K. When I wrote about the .info, .biz and .org sales, I pointed out that it was likely the .org seller was NOT aware of what the .info and .biz sold for.
Since BuyDomains owned the .net, and likely were aware of the other 3 recent sales, they had the knowledge to ask for a higher price.
I think the buyer would have paid $15K-$25K for the .org based on what was paid for the .info and what was paid for the .net
MHB says
Jamie
No doubt the .org seller left money on the table, however working through a broker many times you don’t know who they are dealing with which places the seller at a huge disadvatange, think I’m going to write a post on this today
Jamie says
@Michael,
My biggest point is to be sure to check reported sales before accepting or counter offering. Google the keywords etc, just to be sure. This is what I wrote about it http://www.dotweekly.com/check-recent-domain-name-sales-before-accepting-an-offer for a little more reference.
I agree, not knowing the buyer can hurt, but if you notice other recent purchases of the matching keyword, that can be a huge clue as well and can help the seller in not leaving money on the table.
MHB says
Jamie yes but that is easier said than done
Where are you, or how do you track these sales?
Namebio doesn’t have them yet
Jamie says
NameBio is umm well.. here, use this: http://www.domaintools.com/domain-sales-history/
Andrew Rosener says
There has been a huge uptick in .net & .org domain sales prices recently. Unfortunately, I can’t disclose due to NDA, but we have in the last 30 days sold the #1 largest .net & the largest .org sales in history.
On top of that I have seen a lot of ecommerce type names in both .net & .org selling well into the mid to high 5 figures.
Direct Navigation is becoming less relevant relative to the amount of organic traffic that can be derived from search engines by utilizing exact match keyword domains for SEO. The guys that understand this and are actually developing are willing to pay out the nose for those keywords.
So then you ask yourself, well “why .com, .net & .org only? Why not .info, .biz, etc…”. The answer is age. Google especially likes a well aged domain and the .com, .net & .org are bound to be far better aged than any other TLD. Therefore in a competitive vertical, those 3 tld’s will always outrank all other’s assuming everything else is equal (i.e. – content, linking & on page development are apples to apples).
