Directi newest project Media.Net just went live tonight with its official roll out coming at Ad:Tech in New York this week.
According to the site, Media.Net is:
“A premium contextual advertising company that utilizes superior analysis and classification algorithms to dynamically identify and deliver the most relevant and engaging ads on a web page.”
“Our technology is able to uniquely blend contextual analysis with behavior data, audience profiling, demographic info and historical performance metrics to substantially enhance value for both web publishers and advertisers.”
“Web publishers typically end up utilizing other contextual ad networks for unsold back-fill inventory or below-the-fold positions due to low yields and lack of customization. Our publisher program is specifically designed to generate substantially higher eCPM’s for high quality publishers and hence focuses only on premium front-fill inventory.”
“A few of the top 200 largest online publishers are actively participating in our beta program to monetize their display inventory. ”
“We provide our publishers with expert advice, comprehensive access to the best monetization opportunities, and outstanding execution. Our services are exclusively made available to high quality online publishers.”
“On the buy-side, our program allows advertisers to simultaneously utilize contextual relevance and user intent to target ads on top-brand high quality websites.”
“Our system is capable of using text, image or flash creative designs and appending dynamic elements to create hybrid ad units in real-time. Advertisers also have tremendous flexibility to choose between CPC, CPM and CPA bidding models.”
“We are determined to become the provider of choice for online publishers and advertisers by bringing new levels of intelligence that delivers superior long-term performance. We continue to heavily rely on leading-edge technology, in-depth research and proprietary processes to drive our business.”
“Media.net has raised significant capital and is backed by the Ashmore Group (www.ashmoregroup.com) and the Directi Group (www.directi.com).
“Ashmore manages over manages US$35.3 billion (at 30 June 2010) in pooled funds, segregated accounts and structured products. Directi is a $300 million group of businesses that develops innovative mass-market web products for global customers.”
We wish Directi and Ashmore the best of luck with this project but as we have seen over the last couple of days when it comes to Directi, they have the talent and drive to make this into a huge business.

They would have had a better chance with a more descriptive domain. Media.net gives the wrong impression for what they are trying to achieve. Yes advertising kind of comes under media but that is missing the point. Media is too large and bland a description, if using a generic domain on a big project like this use a strong direct command domain like ads.com.

I believe Media, net is a good choice for his new company.
The chances of remembering Media is better than many other possibilities.
If you recall, Div. was the winning bidder for Ad,com 1-2 yrs ago.
But, a legal battle caused the deal to fail.

I agree that Ad.com might have been the domain used for this project had not the legal issues with AOL arose.
However since advertising.com and advertise.com have already been branded are well known media.net might be a better choice than ad.com

So this is a direct competitor to Google’s DoubleClick for Publishers?
Will they pay better?
andrew says
@ Rob – Media.net is a contextual advertising solution, and Google Adsense falls into that same category. You’ll find a number of differences between Media.net and other contextual solutions, that will become apparent over the next month or two.
