The live domain name auction at Domainfest which will be held in New York on August 18th features 44 domains priced over $100K and online prebidding is already opened on SnapNames.com
With the auction just a little over a month away, I’m going to start a series of polls so you can predict which domain(s) you think will sell, if any.
I’m starting with the 14 domains that have a reserve range of $100K-$250K.
I’m going to let the poll run one week, then move on to ask about the 19 domains with a reserve range of $250K-$1M, the we will hit the 11 domains with a reserve range of $1M or more, and on the final week let you pick from the 23 domains priced from $50k-$100K.
As always place you votes on the right and comments below.
Here is the list of the 14 domains priced from $100k-$250K, (you can select up to 2 domains on this poll).

Bryan says
None of them
Michael says
I voted for none of them. I like SecuritySystem.com and LocalNews.com, but I’m skeptical that resellers will drop six figures for them. I don’t think any of the others have a chance at those prices.
Name says
Bad names, maybe localnews at 100K but maybe
Tim says
MobileHomeParks.com, Reggae.com , and SecuritySystem.com are the only obvious ones worth over 100K.
The others might be only if they have a special application for a particular buyer…..like Intelligence.com might just have.
Pat says
I like dating.net and intelligence.com
Alan says
Tim,
I disagree – mobilehomeparks.com is the one thats worth the least imo – I wouldn’t even pay $500 for it.
reggae.com
disco.com
localnews.com
coffeebeans.com
are the only ones worth anything in the six figures.
babyadoptions.com ?? – thats worth 5k at most. It’s not even the correct form – people do not search for adoptions – they search for adoption.
adapter.com – what exactly are you going to do with this ??
confession.com – worth as much as an end user will pay since its a great brandable name for someone who wants to start a cool site but to a domain investor … a lot more bargains around than six figures for this.
judgment.com – 50% of searches for the word judgment are also for judgement its a poor choice of a name to begin with. Save your money.
sweat.com – again, end user brandable name, could be worth $10k or $10m but to a domainer you have to sit on this for a while to make any ROI if you plan to just park it and willing to pay six figures for it. If you have a plan to build it out then only you know how much its worth.
securitysystem.com – with 22,000 local exact search this name is worth nothing close to $100,000 – maybe $25-30 – $100k is end user pricing
dating.net – I’ve seen people spend money on worse plus dating.com is a registered TM so generic or not I would consult with your legal counsel before spending 6 figures on this one (ps – your legal counsel is not commentators on a blog)
intelligence.com – again, you need a business plan here, hopefully one with a slight bit of what this domain is about.
There are some good names in this auction like patents.com and others – even if they are priced higher they can justify it but some of these are duds.
Mike says
I like LocalNews.com.
nr says
dating.net should sell for over $100k
BullS says
confession.com– that a TM issue because there is a name of perfume
Nothing spectacular about those domain names
brianwick says
At these investment levels it has to look good on a billboard
None look good on a billboard – especially Dating.net.
The amount of money that would have to be spent to convert Dating.net into the Brand “Dating.net” would defeat the whole purpose of spending even $1K for it – but a sucker in this business is born every day – ask Ross Perot.

Reggae.com

David
That is my pick as well
Lyrics.net says
Sweat.com – great identity and should nicely follow Candy.com…
domain guy says
reggae.com i think is the only one that will sell if the reserve is to high what should these domains sell for 50K? and mike when you make your predictions you are within 3% of the selling price
brianwick says
@Lyrics
I suppose you can “Sweat” alot when eating candy !!!
Expensive typo
Lyrics.net says
@brianwick
Oops… expensive indeed – but my bet stays, great identity for a prestige gym, sports products store or any other fitness related website.
BusinessWebsites.com says
Long Shots but I would not say they are bad names.
Who would have thought that Homerun.com would have sold for 100k + 1.5 years ago (@ domainfest I believe) which is now a multi-million dollar company.
Rich says
Reggae.com
todaro says
what do i get if i win. i’d like a set of playing cards with thedomains.com logo on the back. i was gonna mock your misspelling of judgment.com but but i googled it first just to be sure. apparently that is the more correct spelling. go figure. i guess the lawyers have taken over the spelling on that one.
MHB says
Todaro
I own the other version I agree it’s the better one
Don says
This is easy. Coffeebeans.com will be the one that sells and is most valuable. You will see a company pick this up as opposed to a individual buyer.
Nothing like fresh coffee beans delivered to your door weekly. Peet’s coffee would be a great fit for this name they already own coffee.com. This name has the potential to be a multi million dollar business.
Very generic, mass appeal world wide, easy to spell.
Plus the cpc and volume is very good.

I like Coffeebeans.com for SURE!!
Daryl says
Guys, these are end-user prices. From a domainer perspective – they are not worth this value because they are extremely over priced. Sure you guys say “oh that is a great domain” but what would you pay for it at auction?
For me these wouldn’t fetch anything over $40k at namejet MAX, so why would you overpay so much unless you have a serious development plan with REAL capital. Do you think you are just going to flip one of these and make a profit?
END USER PRICES… David: Okay live up to your word, buy it. Or now that you think about it, you would most likely have second thoughts.
