According to a survey by Arbitron Inc. and Edison Media Research, for the first time ever, more Americans said they would sooner drop their TV connection than there Internet connection if they had to chose
In the survey “The Infinite Dial 2010: Digital Platforms and the Future of Radio” 49% said they would drop television, and 48% percent said they’d give up their Internet connection in a survey included 1,753 Americans aged 12 and older.
The Internet led all media as the “most essential” of all media in the survey.
Here is the most interesting part.
The last time this group took this poll was 9 years ago in 2001 and back then 72% said they could do without Internet and only 26% said they’d give up TV.
“The shift over these nine years has been steady and profound,” said Edison Research president Larry Rosin.
The shift is most evident among younger viewers between the ages of 12 and 44.
Not surprising to domainers and those in Internet businesses but maybe a surprise to mainstreet.

As close as this battle is right now 48% – 49%,
It only says one thing to me about our World’s Newest soure of Info and Entertainment…
.TV Domains may have just become a bit more valuable/relative from this Recent Poll.
Within the very extension itself, It comes right out to you and says…
.TV Is the very best and only way, to mix both Internet, and TV!

I would give up TN for internet since 10+ yeara ago . Well I practially did – last couple of years internet is mi source, when I switch TV on is mostly as the “background noise” source…

I’ve been saying this for a number of years. The internet portal is an all encompassing data stream. Everything will eventually route into the home through this one connection. Generic domain names and/or expensive branded domains will be huge doorways.

I got rid of TV in 2000 for good. I’ve not had the TV on for 10 years now and never missed it at all.
In fact, our family now does a lot more together and I feel my kids are smarter and more balanced b/c of it.
People talk about sleaze and porn on the Internet, well just look at the state of TV commercials. I saw a Doritos commercial at a friends house the other day where the lady was spreading her legs as she ate Doritos on what looked to be the steps of a court house.
Disgusting really! How does that help my kids have morals or make me want to eat Doritos? Puke !

Of course with the improvement in technology and processing speed over the past 9 years you can watch TV shows on the internet so you’re not really missing anything. As a matter of fact you can get rid of your TV and dedicated telephone line and be just fine and happy.
