China’s largest search engine Baidu.com announced today it is going to launch an independent online video website subsidiary under the brand name Qiyi.com.
The subsidiary’s CEO Gong Yu said the “Qiyi” video platform will carry films and TV series including HD programs.
This marks a continuation of major media branding using LLLL domains to launch new sites.
Interestingly enough the domain is showing a registration date of February 8th 2010.
FT says
A lot of the time LLLL (must be CVCV though) names work very well for Chinese because of the way Chinese words are pronounced. Essentially a CVCV is equivalent to a 2-worder in Chinese.

The guy offering this mickey mouse software was the former CEO of CitizenHawk until he was pushed out the door.
Now, he opened up shop 1 mile from his old office to aggrevate his former company.
Does a company really want to take legal advise from a computer geek?
He could cause harm to domainers but also to the companies buying his software.
