3 Weeks, 3 Cities, 3 Shows, 4 Auctions, Its Going To Be Crazy

January 20, 2010 by Michael Berkens

The next three weeks is going to be really busy for the domain industry and crazy personally.

I’m off to Vegas today for TRAFFIC, then on Monday to DomainFest.

By the time I return to Florida by the following Saturday I will have sat through three live auctions (ricklatona.com’s TRAFFIC auction, Moniker’s DomainFest Low Reserve Auction and Main Auction the following day), countless sessions, tons of meetings and plenty of cocktail and other bigger parties.

Once back to South Florida we have Probowl/SuperBowl week, always a crazy party week, and then we are off to New Orleans for the Domainer Mardi Gras 2010.

I’m thinking of scheduling my liver transplant surgery for late February.

Seriously these three shows coming almost all back to back with large domain auctions accompanying each (the Domainer Mardi Gras will be online only) will go a long way to determining the direction of the industry for the coming months.

Hard Rock doesnt allow dogs ? You want me to check with the boss over there ?
I saw dogs at Palms and on the plane to vegas last week… thought it was a new rule of sorts.

speaking of DOmainFest. I thought there was no domain auction.
DIdnt see it mentioned anywhere and moniker didnt announce anything.
If there is one I assume they plan to release it a night before as usual ?

    Yes and no.

It will give an indication of how many domainers are back to buying premium domains and at what price level. However, domainer to domainer sales is still not healthy for the industry.

It will be more interesting to see how many endusers (and semi endusers) are willing to bid on premium domains.

The auction companies (Latona and Oversee) hopefully promoted the auction outside of the domain industry. If they haven’t done it yet it is too late. They should have been doing it 3 months ago.

I guess the buzz word at the 2 shows will be “development”.
But, how sincere will Oversee be since DomainSponsor is their cash cow?
