I ended up getting iloveyou.cm for $50 against one other bidder.

What did loans.cm end up going for? That is the one that I had been going after for the last few years with Cameroon direct (unsuccessfully). Decided it wasn’t worth it after all that.

As Frank would say, “The Boulevard of Broken Dreams”. It won’t be long before all that typo traffic gets reigned in by the big Ghoogle.
This really is like playing Vegas poker with your money.

Loans.cm went for 5k I believe at Rick Latona auctions.
David J Castello says
Hotels.com’s lawyers are conference calling about now.
DomainersChoice says
Didn’t Hotels.com loose their TM ?
DomainersChoice says
@JP – loans sold at the RL auction for 5K. I can tell you why you where not successfull in getting the domain, it was already registered since about 3 years.

just an fyi..
Lawyers.cm sold for $10,008 today on NJ..

DomainersChoice:
I think it’s too generic for Hotels.com to take, but you never know with some of these recent UDRP decisions.

I think the hotels.com lawyers can meet all they want, but they were turned down for a trademark, they did lose the appeal for a trademark and even if they had a trademark, what would they do with it against a .cm?
Did Cameroon agree to be subject to WIPO?
If not, what are you going to file and where are you going to file it?
Remember ICANN has no control over ccTLD’s.
After its all said and done they have a very generic word with no trademark.
And they can’t bring a UDRP unless Cameroon agreed to have their disputes settled in that manner.

@DomainersChoice & Matt
Loan.cm is the one that sold in Latona’s auction. Loans.cm (plural) was in the namejet landrush, and was the one I had been after for a while. I even sent around $500 in to some company called Marcaria signed some LPOA with someone in Cameroon once for it. It never came to anything and I at least got my money back.
I just realized that since I was in the namejet acution (although I didn’t watch it end) I can look at the history under my namejet reports. It sold for $7,400 to drelson.
In the end I think it would have been a deal at $500, maybe $1k but I’m satisfied with not having bought it for $7,400+

There were 95 bidders BTW on Loans.cm, with 141 bids. In the end it seems there were about 5 different buyers battling it out. That domain may carry a potential TM problem as well since Bank of America owns Loans.com, and paid alot of money for it.

Mike:
I was being sarcastic about the Hotels.com lawyers strategizing to take Hotels.cm. However, I think that cmTLD should have a rule that states all name challenges should be settled in the country of Cameroon (as every serious cigar smoker knows they grow a great cigar leaf wrapper 🙂

Here is the link if you want to download Cameroon conflict resolution policy
http://register.cm/files/Netcom_Complaint_Resolution.pdf
The is a specific defense set out in the policy for domain holders against a complaint if the domain is:
generic or descriptive and the owner is “making fair use” the domain in a manner consistent with its generic or descriptive purpose.

Wish we had this for .com’s
David J Castello says
Yep, wish we had this for dotComs.

Johnny,
I am already seeing Comcast taking over the typos in my area. When you mistype it goes to a comcast search results page with sponsored links and search results which I suspect is backed by yahoo search results. I wonder how many people are going to mistype the .com portion of the names. I would understand the other portion of the name could get mistyped.
