Over the weekend we published a post asking, now that the NameJet.com .cm auctions were underway, how much Sex.cm would sell for.
At the time we published the post, the high bid on the domain sex.cm was $12K.
As of 2pm EST, Monday August 31st, with just less than 24 hours to go, the domain has a high bid of $51,100.
Other .cm on my list getting some high bids are:
Free.cm $12,600
Taobao.cm $12,100
Hotels.cm $10,100
Porn.cm $8,600
Pornhub.cm $5,200
Domain.cm $5,100
Insurance.cm $5,100
Music.cm $4,600
Youporn.cm $3,600
News.cm $2,600
Loans.cm $2,500
Realestate.cm $2,100
Tv.cm $2,100
All auctions are opened to just those who placed backorders on the domain.
There are around 4,500 .cm domains in auction at NameJet.com but I can only report on the 200 on my radar.

It would be interesting to find out which sleeper .cm names get registered by Kevin Ham/Reinvent without any competition at all.
He/they would seem to have a bit of an advantage in the .cm game, no?

Assuming they want to get back into the .CM space which is just an assumption on your part, they would have the invaluable info on which domains were with the registration/auction price and which ones would not.

I’d rather own YouPorn (TM) or PornHub over Sex.cm
YouPorn is dirtcheap at 3,600$, must get a lot of nice traffic
That said, I think “sex” is worth at least 20k in any extension. Maybe overpiced at the moment but definitely worth 30-40k considering the keyword and possible traffic.

It’s interesting to note that only one non-trademarked name hasn’t gone to auction yet that I’ve seen:
Goggle.cm
Any idea, Mike?

And, btw, here are some other ones on my list:
loans.cm $2505
news.cm $2400
movies.cm $1500
uk.cm $1110

Unless anyone has all 4,500 .cm auction domains in their backorder list, I don’t think we can say for sure which ones are at auction and which ones are not.
Did you backorder that one?
dcmike77 says
true.
I backordered about 40 and that one was at the top of my list (and yet the only one that didn’t go to auction)

Are you sure that domain was not rejected by the registry?
I had about 30 of those on my list, including blog.cm
You should click on the .cm icon from namejet’s front page then click on:
“View the status of your pre-orders”
See if it says “auction started” or “rejected” or something else

I hope folks know…that if they plan to use these for PPC they may be banned. Check with your sponsor first.
Already got the word that Yahoo wont allow them through our account.
MHB says
WQ
Well that is an interesting piece of news.
Especially since Yahoo allowed this when Ham had the .cm domains.
You have a direct contract with Yahoo or you heard this through a parking company that works with Yahoo?
WQ says
I’m direct with Yahoo…
I got notice that they won’t allow them with my account as well as a bunch of others (Traffic Quality Plans).
Not sure how Yahoo works with others…that’s why I recommend each buyer contact their PPC sponsor to find out.
It might very well be just the program I use with them.
dcmike77 says
Mike, the status for goggle.cm simply says “pending auction” still. Which is very unusual given that every other domain seems to already be in auction.
snicksnack says
I agree with Caesar, youporn.cm and pornhub.cm should get much more traffic than sex.cm, not sure so if the sex.cm traffic might convert better.
