Last week we told you that Google was changing its organic search algorithm, which it has labeled “Caffeine”.
Now Google has released an official site where you can see what results a search term will return in the new Google Caffeine search:
You can click here and see how your site(s) will rank in the new Google Search

Great. 2 of my major sites got authority status in the new caffeine results 🙂
FX says
How can you tell authority status ?
Chris Beach says
Seems that caffeine favors generic domains. My generics have either held position or gained 🙂

Disaster for me, but the results in my niche are more relevant

my main site has dropped by about 10-20 spots for multiple rankings, not sure where it will land come november…there are a number of seo sites reporting more emphasis on the domain name, but this seems to be google taking a step back and not forward, so will have to wait and see where things go in november when they are schedule to make the switch

I have been testing this for a few weeks, it’s awesome, great news, assuming you have some nice domains that match the typical direct search names.

Re: Don ( there are a number of seo sites reporting more emphasis on the domain name ) If google places more emphasis on domain name that would certainly be a benefit for the domining community, it should push prices up and anyone wanting to compete may have to seek domain names that can get them listed higher, which can bring more sales at better prices. a step back maybe, but that community wold certainly get noticed.

Karl,
Yahoo and MSN currently place more emphasis on the domain and their marketshare is falling every day, not sure what google stands to gain from this move…and I would not be suprised to see further tweaks, google is clearly trying to go more brand specific and try to put searchers directly in touch with the end business owner, eliminating the affiliate/seo middleman, the one thing I have learned is that the top seo guys will find the new angles and eventually it will adjust back unless google implements negative weighting system…this is only good news for domainers who take advantage of the current opportunity to develop some of their portfolio gems that have landing pages currently

The search is fast. We’ll have to wait and see how it pans out for traffic. I’ve learned you never really know until it goes live.
