Well its been over a week since the .CM Landrush was to begin and Namejet.com has finally sent out a notice on the status of the .CM landrush and auctions, which was suppose to close on July 31.
Readers of TheDomains.com got most of this information days ago, but NameJet has just released updated info on the .CM launch even though it was suppose to be rolled out over a week ago.
Interestingly enough, although people are being given 2 more weeks to submit .CM domains, if you have already submitted a .CM domain that you might want to withdraw the application for, they won’t let you.
So to be clear, there is time to delete any domain you already applied for, but there is plenty of more time to place more orders.
Here is the official announcement:
“””As you may have heard there was a delay in the opening of the General Registrations for .CM that was originally scheduled for July 31st. The Registry has now announced that General Registrations will begin on August 26, 2009 at 05:00:01 PM Pacific Time (August 27, 2009 at 00:00:01 UTC).
As an added bonus, the Registry has decided to extend the Landrush Pre-Order period until the General Registrations begins. Therefore, NameJet will reopen its Pre-Order process with a new Pre-Order deadline of August 23, 2009 at 1:00 PM Pacific Time. Don’t miss this great opportunity to get those names pre-ordered that you thought of after the original deadline had passed!
Once the General Registration period begins, we will begin the process of awarding the single pre-ordered domains. Auctions will then be scheduled to start on August 28th and continue over the following few weeks.
General Auction Details **Updated**
As NameJet receives the updates from the Registry, the status of each domain will change. As auctions start or single pre-ordered domains are awarded, the status will also change. You can easily view the status of your domains from the .CM Pre-Order page.
If you were the only bidder with a pre-order for a domain, you will be awarded the domain during the later part of the week ending August 28, 2009. Once the name has been awarded, NameJet will send you a $0.00 order confirmation and additional instructions.
Multiple pre-order 3-day auctions will be scheduled over a few weeks. The first auctions are currently scheduled to begin August 28, 2009. You will be notified at the start of any auction where you are a participant.
Auction Process:
At the start of each auction, you will receive an email with the start and end dates and times. In addition, we will send you an email with a Daily Auction Summary. Once an auction starts, you will be notified if you are outbid, with a quick link to access the auction and increase your proxy amount.
The minimum starting bid for all auctions is $50 USD. Enter your proxy bid, and NameJet will automatically bid on your behalf UP TO your maximum bid. You can come back at any time and increase your proxy bid.
Each auction will last for three days, and close between the hours of 2:00pm and 4:00pm PT.
When logged into your NameJet account, you can view all active auctions on the My Auctions tab.
By clicking on the .CM Pre-orders link, you will see a list of all pre-orders and their current status.
Once domains have been awarded, the Manage My Domains section will indicate which registrar will be contacting you regarding next steps to managing each domain.
Keep a close eye on closing auctions with our Last Minute Board. This page is updated once every 1 minute so you can monitor the status of auctions that are closing in the next 24 hours.
Auction Payment Process
When the auction closes and you are the winner, NameJet will attempt to charge your account within an hour. While payment is expected at the close of the auction, we do offer a 7-day grace period. Email reminders will be sent daily with a list of any auctions that remain in the pending payment status.
Payment is by credit card or wire transfer only. We do not accept PayPal.
Auctions over $5000 require a bank wire transfer.
If you intend to send a bank wire transfer for payment, we suggest you start this process immediately upon the close of your auction. Some banks can take a few days to process, and we post to your account Monday through Friday only.
Bank Wire instructions can be found on our Support Center. When logged into your account, go to Help / Support Center / Answers. Article #1054 is the first one listed.
FAQs and Technical Support
We encourage you to read through the FAQ’s to become more familiar with the NameJet bidding process. Likewise, our Help / Support Center page has many articles which will answer specific questions about our auction site.
Our Technical Support staff is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist with NameJet questions. For assistance, when logged into your account, please submit a Support Center ticket from the Help page.
Customers that submitted winning Pre-Orders directly through NameJet will be charged the $350 2-year registration by eNom. If you submitted Pre-Orders through another domain name service provider, please contact your provider for details on additional fees associated with the .CM registration. For .CM names with multiple bids, the winning auction fees will be charged by NameJet.”””

Sounds like there weren’t enough preorders already.

Mike, how can one delete a name applied for? Or can one?

J-
If you applied for a .CM on Namejet.com during the original land rush period, you had the option of deleting it from your list prior to the original deadline of July 31.
Now although that they re-opened the land rush to take more applications, they closed the window to delete any domains you had ordered.
My point is simply if they are re-opening the whole deal, they should re-open it for all purposes including for deletion of application if that is your desire.

jblack: you can check if other people have applied for the same domains, in this case you should be too concerned, as someone else might get the domain anyway. To check, go to register.cm and use the whois search. There you can see how many people have applied for the domains.
