TechCruch.com is reporting that Amazon.com, as part of its acquisition of Zappos.com, is getting the domain Clothes.com thrown in.
Amazon agreed to buy Zappos.com for $847 Million in cash and stock a couple of weeks ago.
According to TechCrunch, the domain name, clothes.com was purchased by Zappos.com, from IdealLab.com for $4.9 Million in 2008.
The article points out had that domain sale been reported, it would have been the second largest domain sale of 2008, behind Fund.com for $10 Million.
This is more proof that a lot of huge domain transactions fly under the radar.

Yes like the 7,000 domains Marksman recently admitted to acquiring for clients like Microsoft when they did the Office.com deal. None of those are on Ron’s radar.
owen frager says
btw, Zappos ownes 173 domains, mostly with the word Zappos as part of the string like:
Sisterslovezappos.com
Runningzappos.com
Zapposcoupons.com
But they do have some others:
Avarielle.com
Bricksshoes.com
Gigafootwear.com
Gigashoes.com and Giga-Shoes.com
Bouquetsfootwear.com

Home now. That’s Trout & Zimmer or T&Z. Tread carefully if they contact you because they are working on behalf of big fish.
