Jets.com For Sale On Sedo After Sale Of The Company That Owns It.

July 22, 2009 by Michael Berkens

Jets.com, a truly premium domain for the travel industry is now listed on Sedo.com with a “make offer” page.

Jets.com was formerly used by a company brokering private jet charters.

OneSky Jets recently acquired “the business interests of Jets.com” (price and terms were not disclosed)

Included in the sale were:

“Jets.com technology platform including its servers and all the data contained therein; the LegFind charter industry portal software and domain; explicit rights to the Jets.com customer list; and Jets.com’s rights, title, and interest in all non-disclosure, non-compete and/or non-solicitation agreements”

The official press release is available here

The one thing the company didn’t seem to get in the purchase was the Jets.com domain name.

I believe the former owner of the Jets.com is selling the domain on Sedo.

Its strange to me that OneSky Jets didn’t buy the domain, Jets.com, as it is clearly better than its present name OneSky.com, and could be used to re-direct traffic to it, even if they didn’t want to change the name of their site.

On the other hand the new buyer maybe one of those that does not “get” domains, as they do not even seem to own OneSkyJets.com, which is a parked page owned by a different party, or it could be the owner of Jets.com wanted a price too high for OneSky’s budget or taste.

In any event this leaves a great travel domain on the table.

The New york Jets should take it. unless they want to join the Dallas cowboys who gave up the opportunity to own Cowboys.com

Makes sense since they just filed a UDRP against Marchex for Dolphins.com:

Minimum bid the seller is accepting is $50,000 USD.

    IMO, $100K gets it done.

Nice opportunity for either the NY Jets or a private charter company.
