I’m sure they were hoping for more. Then again there was a lot of .nets so the expectations may have been low. It was a good start but the domain auction market is starting to get crowded. It seems there are auctions everywhere right now. Liquidity is good as long as its not always domainers trading domains back and forth. We need some endusers to take some out of the market

My calculator gives me just under $90K…am I wrong?

Ha! This is funny. This more than solidifies that Domaining is DEAD.

What makes you think there are no end users in snapnames.com auctions?
A few years ago I got outbid on a domain their Vast.com I want to say I went up to like $30K and got outbid.
When I checked on the domain a month later it was owned and in use by a company running a search engine.
So while I agree we need more end users in these auctions, don’t assume there are not some in already
John Mauriello says
The Top 2 sales in this were to End users. I have not reviewed all the sales so there are likely more then these 2. . Most end users are familiar with Snapnames.com from the backorder process and those who made backorders are invited to these auctions… There are also additional higher value names that were listed in this auction being sold privately to end users who did not bid on time bring the total significantly higher. Our goal was to reach end users in this auction. We made this new on line auction platform to be easy for end users to purchase names.
Steve says
I stand corrected, then.
Guess I’ve just developed a jaded attitude over time and have been assuming that most of what goes on is churning and wholesaling between domainers.
Attracting and educating end users is certainly no easy task. Kudos to the organizations that attempt to do that!

The bidding was great and and everyone put up a great fight. Hope to see more of these.
