The Silcon Valley Insider, (the blog) is reporting that 5% of the traffic to its site on Christmas from the Apple iPhone or the iPod touch browser.
According to Google analytics, visits to the blog accounted for more than 5% of visits to the blog on Christmas day.
Specifically, 3.22% of their visits came from the iPhone’s Safari browser on Dec. 25, and 2.00% came from the iPod touch, for a total of 5.22% share.
That is up 90% from last Christmas, when 2.39% of their visits came from the iPhone and 0.36% came from the iPod touch.
According to Cnet.com the share of Google’s chrome Browser was less than 4%.
So if the phone and iTouch account for a bigger browser share, the bigger question is how will the iphone and itouch affect the domain business in 2009?
So if 5% of tech savvy users navigate the net on their iphone or itouch today, where will be in 3 years and what does it mean for the industry?
Personally I have stayed away from the iPhone, only because of AT&T’s brutal service in the US, but I bought one of the first ipods ever sold, and have a itouch as well.
The question I have for all of you iphone guys, is that now that the iphone is about to be sold at Walmart for $197 and $297, does that make the iphone less cool, or just more available?

First and foremost we all know that the future game will be in the Mobile World. Just look at today’s mobile users vs PC users. As more bandwidth comes to these devices and they are made more user friendly and easier to operate (such as with the iPhone & Google’s Android OS) they will have more of an impact on the Internet and domains. All of us in the domaining industry will have to deal with their growing availability.

Well, I account for some of that 5%…
I’m on my new itouch right now! 🙂
The Internet is pretty fast, for a mobile device. I’ve really enjoyed using it so far. I think that this will lead to more blogs being “mobalized”
There are a number of plugins for wordpress that enable mobile devices to view blogs with much more ease.

I don’t think that this will affect the domain industry, at least as far as PPC revenue goes. If the people using these devices are “Tech Savy”, I at least believe that the “Tech Savy” are not the ones clicking on the PPC ads.

I think these prices shall help grow the Iphone.
I dont personally have one and Im actually going out today to pickup a HTC Touch HD.
I think that this is great news that more people are using there phone to search the web and check there emails all the time.
Like me I never turn off and I wonder what new device shall come out next to make a domainers life easier.
Warm Regards,
Robbie
