One year ago we launched thedomains.com and published our first post.
When i first though about writing a blog, I asked myself the same question everyone who has ever considered writing a blog asks themselves, “What the hell am I going to write about everyday”.
Well over 830 posts later, in a year full of registrar misconduct, the Snowe Bill, Kentucky Seizing domains, ICANN proposing an unlimited number of new extensions, Yahoo and Google, PPC downturn, and all the domain conferences and auctions, there seemed to be no shortage of things to find to write about this industry.
So as I look back I want to thank all of you who have loyally read this blog.
Over 150,000 page views in just the last six months with over 6,000 comments posted by readers, its you guys who inspire me to spend the time sharing with you news, opinions and issues that I think are important to the industry.
Over the last year a lot of new bloggers are covering this industry.
When I started registering domains, there was not one source, for people in the industry to learn, share and grow. Today there are quite a few excellent sources each having their own “take” on the subject.
In this last year, more and more bloggers are asking the hard questions, demanding transparency and trying to better the industry for all domainers. We may have been the first to start calling out those in this industry, but as Andrew showed yesterday at DomainNameWire.com, we aren’t going to be the last and that is great news for all domainers.
In the next 12 months, the new gTLD’s application rollout; Snowe Bill 2; the appeal of the Kentucky Domain Seizure case and ICANN/US governments relationship; are issues already on our radar.
Like the tree falling in the woods, If no one reads or comments on what you write, have you really written anything?
Thanks so much to all of you who have taken a few minutes out of your day to check us out and especially of those who contribute with comments and ideas for stories.
