KillerStartups.com,which operates one of the most highly-read blogs dedicated to Internet startups, announced the acquisition of the Startups.com domain name and the launch of the Startups.com Network, a proprietary network of business sites focused on services and content for entrepreneurs and business executives. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Founded by Argentinean Internet entrepreneurs Fernando and Gonzalo Arzuaga in 2007, KillerStartups, which reaches over 1.5M visitors per month, provides insightful reviews on Internet startups and receives hundreds of daily submissions. KillerStartups.com received angel funding from serial entrepreneur Matias de Tezanos, whose successful portfolio of Internet startups include HealthCare.com, ClickDiario, and Hoteles.com. After over six months of in-depth research and negotiations, Jensen-Madier chose to sell the Startups.com domain name to KillerStartups and joined the advisory board of Startups.com Network. Jensen-Madier, a former VentureOne executive, founded Startups.com in 1998 as a business startup accelerator which had a niche market during the dotcom boom. They raised a total of $17.2M, their boards included well-known personalities such as Guy Kawasaki, managing director of Garage Technology Ventures, and Gil Forer, specialist in venture capital, and their corporate sponsors included IBM, Sun, Microsoft, Silicon Valley Bank, and HP. Startups.com Network plans to launch several other sites before the end of 2008 and is actively seeking business-related sites to acquire.
