According to reports merger talks are under way between Yahoo and Time Warner Inc’s, AOL unit.
While noting a deal was not imminent, sources say the two companies have engaged in “meaningful” due diligence about a possible combination for the past couple of weeks.
Talks are focused on how to integrate AOL’s content and advertising business into Yahoo.
Yahoo and Time Warner began talks several months ago, when the Internet company was looking for an alternative growth strategy to fend off a takeover bid from Microsoft Corp.
Yahoo advertising deal with Google is under heavy attack by congress and consumer groups, and stuck in the regulatory process.
Under the deal Yahoo and Time Warner have discussed, Yahoo would fold AOL’s content and advertising business into its own operations, and Time Warner would get a stake in the combined company.
Damir says
Yahoo and Time Warner (AOL) should not be allowed to merge since it would create an online monopoly – they are big enough to operate as independent Company’s and should compete against each other so online customers can have a variety of choices for their advertising needs and get the BEST value for money spend.
” Competition is a by-product of productive work, not its goal. A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.”

Hard to believe it can happen. Both companies are really struggling but you never know.
Not sure what it means but just a general observation… You can now access your Yahoo mail through AOL.com which is new. You could also access your gmail but we all know about the aol-google partnership already.
