Governor Of Kentucky: “Very Pleased” With Judges Ruling

October 20, 2008 by Michael Berkens

The Governor of Kentucky, Steve Beshear, who started the action which lead to the seizure of the 141 domain names in Kentucky posted his response to the judge upholding the seizure order saying:

“I am very pleased with Judge Wingate’s ruling. The court validated our concern that there is illegal and unregulated Internet gambling in Kentucky. He has given these parties 30 days to effectively block any access to this illegal activity within the commonwealth of Kentucky or they may be forced to forfeit those domain names to the commonwealth.””””

“””No one has been willing to step up and do anything about illegal Internet gambling until now. We must protect our people, especially our children, from this illegal and unregulated activity while also protecting our legal and regulated forms of gaming in Kentucky.””””

Yes Governor now the good citizens of the state and their children can only be effected by throwing their money away on twinspires.com which of course allows online horse race gambling site operated by Louisville Downs.

Yes people and their families are now protected from playing poker, one of the great games of skill, but can legally bet all the want on the ponies, the old fashion way, by picking their favorite number or pick the horse with the name reminding them of there dearly departed great aunt.

Yes the world is a safer place and we have the Governor of Kentucky Steve Beshear to thank.

IMO, the silver lining (if there is any) is that they messed with the wrong group of domain owners/entrepreneurs. These groups will most certainly appeal to a higher court, who I would think will throw out these rulings and make a precedent-setting ruling that will be helpful in the long run. Just my opinion, but I don’t think we’ve heard the end yet.

“especially the children”….. that’s my favorite part.

Everybody knows that kids have been squandering fortunes on illegal and legal gambling for generations….. and every parent wants it to stop. LOL.

    I agree with you.

I certainly expect this ruling to be appealed, although no official notice of such an appeal has been filed.

I think we really need someone to take this issue to federal court, where the justices are appointed for life and are much less subject to the politics and protectionism that you find in state court rulings, including state supreme courts

What a Judge and The Governor of Kentucky, Steve Beshear.

What will be next done by the Governor in Kentucky take away money from the people living in Kentucky since they buy to much junck food and are not living a “healthy life style) so they can keep the people slim since if they have no money they will slim down.

If the Governor wants to protect the people in Kentucky – Educate them – EVERYTHING in life has a positive and downside
