As part of the TRAFFIC DownUnder show next month, there will be a special domain auction with all proceeds being contributed to the ICA.
These domains are to be auctioned with no reserve at the conference Gala Dinner on the 19th of November.
The Internet Commerce Association (ICA), a grass roots organization formed to ensure domain services and owners are robustly represented in areas of great risk and importance to the global domain community.
The ICA utilizes dues and contributions to enable activities related to legislative lobbying, regulatory representation, industry public relations, legal test case support, industry publication of statistics and reports, revenue research, and market intelligence. In order for the association to continue and expand its activities, it requires the support and participation from current members and the entire professional domain name community.
The conference host, Fabulous.com, has generously offered to donate domains valued at over $60,000 to the auction.
T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Down Under is now seeking additional submissions for the auction. The top ten domains by value will be selected for the auction and will receive extensive online and offline promotion including the conference website, press releases, blogs and digital signage during the auction. The final ten domains and their sponsors will be announced on the 17th October.
Some of the domains offered to date include CarbBlockers.com, FranchiseCompany.com, BiometricReader.com, MovingCosts.com, DisplayUnit.com, BodyBuildingProducts.com, and MedicalLawsuit.com.
Domains for donation can be submitted at http://www.trafficdownunder.com/supporting-ica.htm.
This is a great way for domainers to contribute to the ICA without having to become members or come out of pocket to help support the ICA efforts.
Recently the ICA filed a brief in the Kentucky Seizure case and got wide press coverage of its participation.
Considering a negative ruling by the court (due out as soon as today), will in short order, effect may categories of domains, you need to support the ICA so they can represent the industry
