An Internet marketing pioneer reveals why you should invest in multiple domain names now.
Anyone who questions that the internet is here to stay should think again and any business waiting on the sideline should get in the game now according to one Internet expert.
Its been a wild ride on the Internet since the mid 90s says Scott Alliy a pioneer in the field of Internet marketing.
Scott who is founder and President of such popular websites as FindaSeminar.com the worlds largest training search engine has learned more than a few tricks about marketing on the Internet from personal experience.
He advises business owners and startup entrepreneurs to jump on board the internet now and says the he gives his own clients seven solid reasons that they should commit to owning more internet property aka domain names.
The Internet has endured turbulent times from early speculators whose vision for the net was soundly rejected by the market causing the all too memorable dot crash in the early 2000s.
Better technology, increased education about how to market products and services on the Internet and increased awareness of and use of the internet by consumers makes this the time to put both feet in the boat and commit to building your business on the internet claims Scott.
In case your still not convinced Scott offers the following 7 reasons for fence sitters to commit to the internet now by locating and acquiring the domain names that they need to succeed on the net.
#7 Desire – You thought of the great name domain name for your business and now you want it – follow your instincts they served you well in the past and will do so now.
#6 Competition – Your competition has jumped on board the internet and there presence jeapordizes your business.
#5 Type-in traffic – Internet surfers are more likely to remember waht they want then brand names for example the domain name AtlantaPlumbers.com is more valuable than OBrienPlumbing.com.
#4 Search Ranking – It is common knowledge that having your product or service description in your domain name leads to better search engine ranking.
#3 Increased traffic – There are multiple phrases that people think of your product service or company. the more domain names that you own the better chance that you
will receive visitors to one of your multiple related domain names.
#2 Asset Value – Domain names expecially .com are an investment in your business. When it comes time to sell your business, your investment in domain names will pay off handsomely.
#1 Security – Owning multiple domain names relating to your product service or company is a wise investment and as an added bonus besides the obvious marketing value and asset value, owning multiple domain names prevents your competition from encroaching in your space.

I would also add that the value of your domain as your email address cannot be over rated!!
There is nothing like owning Kelly@Spidertel.com
as opposed to kelly@ kc.rr.com if Spidertel is your company name!
Also the ability to sub-domain your names is always forgotten…but if you own HighLimitRoom.com, you have the ability to sub-domain and possibly lease your domain to:
Wynn.HighLimitRoom.com
Harrahs.HighLimitRoom.com
Bellagio.HighLimitroom.com etc…
Scott Alliy says
Thank you Kelly
Those are two tremendous additional benefits to owning domain names that I had overlooked. I am sure there are more many more anbd hope that others will use my original list and add to it to benefit themselves and all of us domainers.
As I always say and I hope other domainers beleive as I do. The most important thing we can do is . Educate, Educate, Educate buyers because at the end of the day they hold the key to our success.
When it comes to realizign gain from our foresight and effort in selecting premium domain names We won’t GET it until the end user GETs it.

Agree with most points and
“#5 Type-in traffic – …AtlantaPlumbers.com is more valuable than OBrienPlumbing.com.”
may be true but I have to tell you, if I’m looking for a plumber, I don’t type in my townplumber.com.
Know why? Because I know it will be parked with ads.
We domainers may not want to admit it but every time a visitor lands on a parked page, that is one more person saying “I’m not typing in that domain again” and there goes another type in customer.
Ask yourself, will you type in yourtownplumber.com or yourtowndentist.com or yourtownrealestate.com to actually find that service?
No. You will search google then pick up the phone book.
Am I wrong?

I think that point #5 will become more of a factor than it is now. “yourtownrealestate.com” is usually developed and so are a few others. Once people start developing their geo-generics and a person’s dentist’s online presence is at “yourtowndentist.com” and you see that the local grocery store takes online orders at “yourtowngroceries.com” then it becomes much easier to imagine that you can just type in and find something good.
The business that buys the best geo-generic will either use it to advantage or sell it and eventually the better business will end up owning the best geo-generic – more or less.
I don’t think it would take all that long for the consumer to forget all about the parked geo-generics that were the norm just as nobody really doesn’t use search engines because of early Alta-Vista bad experiences.
Actually, I think that eventually the better bet might be finding what you are looking for via type in traffic (for geo-generics) than finding a good site in the Google top 10. At this point you have 2-3 sites in the top 10 that aren’t relevant for your search but still powerful sites, a wikipedia, a youtube, a blog or two and maybe what you are looking for.

Generic Domain Names admin says
Great article, Scott. As more and more firms jump into the online world, online assets like domains especially those generic in nature will increase in values.
