givingtree.org – good for a charity
donate presents for the christmas tree. Although a tree does not give 🙂 it does sound good and a memorable play on words – not a bad name imo but $5,600 is a steep price but then again most drops are 🙂

Sounds like a $8 name

GivingTree.org – could be set up an a Charity website where people could list items which they would like to give away which they do not need.

can someone explain to why it is ok for a blog like this to report domain sales numbers without permission from the new owner or the venue?

Everyone asks for transparency in the industry.
Ron Jackson has been publishing the results of domain auctions conducted at snapnames for years and at namejet.com since its inception.
The auction’s we report on are auctions we are bidders on and sometime the winning bidder.
Domain Sales are news.
