Reported by Mr. Rick Schwartz today on his blog, Rick sold the domains ireport.com and i-report.com to Cable News Network (CNN) for $750,000.
CNN has been using the term “ireport” for many months now as a platform for viewers to send in their own video clips of “new” stories.
We congratulate Rick and CNN on the transaction.
This sale, combined with Oak Hills annouced investment in Oversee.net, and the 1.2 Million dollar auction held by Moniker.com, all this week, shows continued strength in the domain market.
This is very impressive in light of the awful economic news and horrible performance of the stock market.

My opinion is that this is a unique case where CNN had started to build a segment around “i-Report”, without securing the domain name in advance, which means Rick was able to negotiate a much higher price than the domain would normally get.

Somewhat true, it is a unique situation, but in someone else’s hand, they probably would have sold the domain for much less.
You have to give Rick a lot of credit for asking for the money and sticking to his price. Many others would not have done either.
